International prize winning, Maitena Anda is an innovative textile designer who was born and raised in Barcelona to a Basque family. She spent long summers in the family hometown of Lekeitio, a small fishing village on the Atlantic coast. At the age of 23 she moved to the UK and has lived in Hebden Bridge for the last eighteen years, where she lives with her husband and two children. Maitena's work is inspired by her love for the natural Pennine beauty which surrounds her, and the contrasting influences of Barcelona and Lekeitio. Maitena trained at Bradford University in the heartland of UK textile heritage. She specialised in weave and print. She enjoys designing fabrics that highlight the beauty and textures of nature.
