Ruth Gonzalez I was born in Mexico City, one of the most crowded cities in the world. In my country there are many good and bad things, images, urban folklore and social problems like there are in so many cities around the world. From 1996 to 1998, I studied Architecture, but I decided to follow my greatest passion and changed my major to Fine Arts. I began my study at The National School of Plastic Arts, “U.N.A.M” by the Fall of 1998. I grew up surrounded by the chaos and the lifestyle of my reality. As a result, my perception of my environment changed my point of view and gave me a new social consciousness. As an artist, I want to communicate and transmit my ideas, and create social awareness. At the same time, I want to inspire my viewers to have a better way of life. My art speaks about social problems, women’s role in the society, and the urban culture. I use different techniques such as photography, painting, sculpture, collage, performance, and installation. These techniques are just tools to help develop my concepts and ideas. “Before being a woman, I am a human with a big responsibility to this world.” Artemasgaleria joined Society6 on March 27, 2014
