Hi, I’m Rebecca a Freelance Illustrator.
I was born and raised in Chesterfield, which is located in Derbyshire. I studied illustration at my local collage, passing these courses with Distinctions. I then moved onto higher education at Derby University.
In my 3 years at University I have gained a lot of skills, from book making to computer skills on software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. These skills have helped me to achieve a First Class Honours in Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Illustration.
Before coming to University I was interested in merchandising. I was creating my own t-shirts and shoe designs. But I now know there is a wider range of areas in illustration that I would want to work in. One area that I’m really interested in is Children’s Books. I have created a range of story and picture books. When I create a book I try to add a sense of humor, so the story appeals to other age rangers rather than just children. Character Design is also a big part of my work. I like to create quirky fun characters to go with my stories.
Something I am developing more is my typography by recently creating wedding invitations, logo designs and also t-shirt designs.
Drawing and making things has always been something I have been interested in, right from when I was little. As I have got older I have found that I love to explore and go to different places in the world. This has come from when I went to New York. One day want to return.
