BookMaker Comics

BookMaker Comics was born almost by chance in Spring 2009, when a group of former students at Scuola Internazionale di Comics decided to gather strength in order to give birth to an independent, original new comics reality. Pushed by the desire of making and publishing, the group soon expanded involving young talents who immediately gained success, once they started to be part in the various editorial projects of the association. This allowed BookMaker Comics to enrich its editorial plan, by producing three different typologies: series, pockets and anthologies.Among the important editorial achievements, the original series SKINWALKER was candidate as one of the three best independent series of the year 2012. Trusting its creative, young and uncontaminated spirit, BookMaker Comics became an SAGL company based in Switzerland. The purpose of this new reality is to promote innovative, energetic comics, soon expanding to the primary categories of entertainment. The first bet was and is the relaunch of “made in Italy” series, thought on and reviewed in the American way. The ambition is to conjugate the two realities so to reach a new kind of comics, enjoyable at a universal level. Nowadays, BookMaker comics is proud of its team which counts around thirty cooperators (among scriptwriters, artists, colorists, letterers, translators and editors), actively involved in numerous projects which will soon see their light during 2013; this same year, the publishing house had two victories at Full Comics and Games in Milan with LAND OF THE BRAVE (best series) and NERD BASH (best comics for the young audience) and two nominations with SKINWALKER (best digital comics) and THE FUCKING FROGMAN (best humorous comics); moreover, it has been accepted on the worldwide digital platform Comixology. Our best partners are: Stefano Cardoselli (Heavy Metal, 2000AD), Nicolas Brondo and Diego Cortez. All this to highlight that the independent Italian comics reality is more lively and reactive than ever. BookMaker Comics joined Society6 on December 10, 2013
