About Brenda erickson

crazy creative gal with a bent for paper & pen, rabbits, COLOR and life

I am a self taught artist, trying new things, breaking the occasional rule, always looking to nature for inspiration, and doing my best to be a compassionate human.

I did take painting lessons and perhaps I could spin that tale into more; but the truth is that I was eleven and my most vivid memories are about drinking coffee. I did learn an old school oil technique that I still use when the moment calls, but oil painting is not my real love.

Landscape Architecture was my first love; perennial garden design in particular. Flowers remain my steady inspiration for the subtle nuances of color and texture. I hold a BS in Environmental Design; Landscape Architecture from Cook College, Rutgers University.

May I also add that I am an Usui Reiki Master and a student of Shamanism.

As long as I can remember, I have been drawing; but it is only since 2009 that it has become my primary vocation. This is what I was born to do. Creative expression is my lover and I do my best to be attentive.

My compositions are intuitive to my experiences, waking and dreaming, coupled with my optimism for humanity. I love the use of symbolism in alchemic or visual forms to convey a message. My art, like me, continues to evolve and devolve dependent on outside forces and my own life energy. It is a ride, so to speak. A wild ride.
