Born and raised in Saskatoon. Ten years spent in Calgary. Drawn home often by the spirit of the prairies.
My influences are varied and fluid. The constant in my process is an attention to light and tonal range, a result of my education in black and white film photography. I mostly shoot digitally now, but still with analogue principles in mind. With my DSLR, I prefer to execute as much of my vision as I can in the camera, and keep post-processing to a minimum. I aim to subtly enhance rather than heavily manipulate. I'm also drawn to experimentation, however, and enjoy the unexpected results that come from cross-processed film, toy cameras, and Instagram filters.
I look for inspiration everywhere, but find it most often in horses, landscapes, urban monotony, and small towns. I shoot in colour more and more often these days, but it's seeing a beautiful black and white print that always reminds me why I fell in love with this medium, and pulls me back to my camera after a creative lull.
Thank you for taking the time to view my work.
