Emily Quillen

I draw what I see; highways, overpasses, roads, bridges, and how they appear to me as a visual vortex to another location; a connection to another world, or possibility. Nestled somewhere between what is known and what is imagined, these landscapes and cityscapes bring to the forefront, the essence of that which actually exists, but in an abstracted language of black and white similar to an architectural, or topographical rendering. In this manner they are universal, and therefore, serve as a bridge that connects the familiar with the unfamiliar and provides a mere glimpse of what could be, or might be.
