Acrylic sketches
Acrylic sketches
I've been fooling around with acrylics lately. It's been a hard medium for me, since it dries way too quickly. I also used color pencils and micron pens as an experiment. Let me know what you think...

Great composition and colour! I like the way you have experimented with the micron pens, and I really like the textured effect the canvas leaves. :-)

love the 'point' and 'unusual pear'!! I find acrylics maddening! I like the added micron pen. I found that the "staywet" plastic palettes with lids keep the acrylics much wetter for longer while using, but of course they dry almost immediately after applying. I did not find the spray useful. Anyway, just sharing. These are great as always!

I like the color choices and the graceful shapes. I know what you mean about acrylics. All I can say is that it does improve over time and with the use of a medium. I love gloss medium, some like matte. I find it helps if I want to layer the colors and create a glazing effect. Start with a light color or white base and the light will reflect through the multiple layers of color. Omg I go on and on......I also like you addition of the micron pen! A successful experiment!

Wow! Thanks all for the feedback, you are so wonderful! I suck at this medium the most I think, lol! I used to work with oils and gouache a long time ago. It gives you more time to make gradients and mix colors. Acrylics demand a certainty and speed that I don't have... That's what makes it fascinating to me...

I also love oils, but with a 4 year old running around, I have to paint in something that dries before he can get his hands on it. I usually use water color now because it is just more convenient :-). I hate mixing colors with acrylics too, they have never cooperated for me.

I love the soft texture of the acrylics with the contrasting, decisive black lines on the bottom two...great inspiration, I never would have though to use acrylics for sketches but since they dry so fast it makes sense! Great work!

Thanks for commenting Christina! I like experimenting most of the time, don't know where it might get you...
