I am an individual who experiences, at his core, an inordinate amount of brief joy alternating with sharp sorrow. During the last ten years, I have learned how to sublimate these deep feelings in the form of paintings, and am glad to offer them to others in this world. The deep feeling of joy and sorrow does not go away but is edified by my paintings, and so I continue to make them on a daily basis as long as I have the supplies and a place to do it. Although the paintings come from a deep source of sadness, at times, looking at my paintings makes me happier. Its like a poet, from my generation, said, “every time I press the keys it all gets reversed, the sound of loneliness, makes me happier.” It is this form of sublimation which I have come to rely on and am happy that others connect to my paintings in a similar way. It doesn’t matter who made them. As my body of work unfolds, it has begun to bring something new into the world which I believe is unique and beautiful, and I hope that its spreads and spreads, because this sublimation that I am not articulating well, I believe, is one of the secrets to this world coming together, one person at a time.
