Ingrid Holborn

My name is Ingrid Holborn and I was born in England, East Riding of Yorkshire in a small City called Hull. It is there where I attended art school. I later relocated to Huddersfield, North Yorkshire where I completed a BSc in Textile Design. The next 5 years were to be spent Teaching Design Technology in a secondary school back in Hull. From there I started to create my own paintings and drawings and the Art of Ingrid Holborn was born. My world of creations from my own deepest aspects. I create my uplifting drawings and paintings in my own home based studio. I spend countless happy hours playing with Mixed Media. My style is inspired by anything to do with Nature as after all this is our true essence and I love to just get out and connect back to all that is strengthening for my well being . I am never without my camera and love to put my son River in his pram and go for a lovely walk and point our things to him of beauty on the way. Lets face it the world is full of that! I am drawn to exotic birds, bees, trees but particularly flowers for their variety, colours, scent, and intricate beauty, abstract shapes, sea life entwined into an imaginative abstract pieces. I try to create new shapes that would not normally be seen in the world around us. I love to create something new and that's why I love to work in an abstract style. I often work small so that people have to get up close and personal and have to look closely at the sometimes intricate detail. My pieces are a real topic of conversation. People convey all sorts of meanings when they view my work. That's to me is what art is about.' My love for flowers with my own unique abstract twist is a signature of my own drawing style. So what do I create with all this inspiration? Drawings and paintings both original and prints, I work mainly in mixed media using materials including: pressed flowers, copper leaf, glass paints, glitters, 3d paints, tissue, inks, pens, stamps, oils, acrylics, manipulated digital images. To create is to feel joy and I give my gift to the world for all to see! Ingrid Holborn joined Society6 on September 27, 2013
