John Curtis

Hello! I am an artist from Bristol and I have been drawing and painting ever since I could hold a paintbrush or pencil.

I studied Art, Design and Illustration at Brunel College of Art in Bristol after leaving school, and then had a break from visual arts and studied creative advertising and marketing at Falmouth College in Cornwall, before realising that art was my chosen career, so began to sell my work professionally from 2003 onwards.

My work is contemporary and abstract and is inspired by surroundings, moods and experiences. I am influenced by artists such as Jackson Pollock and M C Escher, as well as pop/modern art and graffiti and street art culture, and base the ideas of my artwork around anything from landscapes to science fiction or music and films or even dreams I have!....plus anything I encounter in daily life inspires my work.

To produce my work I use acrylics, oils, enamel paints and spray paint, I experiment with colours and textures to produce unique abstract pieces. The finished products are highly detailed, energetic pieces of artwork which demand a closer look. I often use inks to add intricate details to the work.

I have sold many pieces since 2003 privately and through art galleries and my work is in private collections in the UK and overseas. I continue to produce artwork regularly and accept commissions.

I have a large variety of work for sale, from small paintings to one off original illustrations and my work suits all tastes and budgets. Work can be created to suit your needs, offering almost any size option and work can be customised to an individual level, creating a unique one piece.
