I grew up in Monroe, Louisiana; a city that was in a perpetual state of decline. As a young child I enjoyed long walks with my father through the streets of our city’s deserted downtown discussing the history of the buildings and the stories of the people who frequented them. We would duck into antique stores and junk shops fondling discarded possessions while talking about the kind of person who might have owned a hand painted ceramic bulldog with a jaunty red cap. These times spent with my father planted a seed that would grow into my strongest impulse and inspiration for creating art: how objects and places collect stories with the passage of time.
Every photograph I make marks a time, a place and a story. I hope that my work inspires you to make my art a part of your own story.
