Shana LaFore - Interior Designer | Artist www.laforedesign.com
Ultra perceptive and annoyingly analytical I study and dissect everything, taking it down to the core, then building it back up again to express how I feel about it while inviting the viewer to see their own reflection in parts I leave unexplained.
Art has been a part of my life ever since I can remember, and somewhere along the lines the left side of my brain got it’s fix by intertwining the logic and math of space and object design. I started drawing and “writing” at age 3 or so. Illustrating short stories made up of scribble words and colorful imagery. I grew to love the feeling of wet clay in my hands and the way words moved when I played with poetry in high school. At University I continued on that route and became a certified art teacher. I loved the kids, however I felt there was yet another step for me. I left the country and moved to Italy, where 6 years later not only did I have a degree in Interior and Furniture design, but I’d gotten a full-fledged Italian husband out of the deal. You can’t beat that! Importing the warm-weather lad to Wisconsin, we’ve settled here for the time being as I mold my new-born business LaFore Art and Design.
Now with our first baby on the way both my art and design work have gone back to the roots of the whimsically playful and child inspired themes I was exposed to while teaching. Continuing to design spaces with high-fashion Italian products and European style I’ve taken that look into nursery design. My most recent artwork is age-appropriate without being belaboring the “cute” factor. What can I say, I’m living my dream, growing my family and my creativity side by side.
