Lara Neece

In 2009, Lara Neece moved onto an old Chris Craft sailboat and decided to become an artist. In the years that followed, she and her partner Brian Young, renovated their 37-foot sailboat Illusion, sailed up and down the Eastern Seaboard of the United States, and explored the islands of the Bahamas. Utilizing as much wind and solar energy as they needed, they cut back on their water usage and transformed this unique mode of transportation into a lifestyle. Her artwork is a collection of imagery drawn from eco-systems that she comes in contact with. Her designs examine the complexity and diversity of surrounding eco-systems and attempt to create environments that comment on natural order, inter-dependence, balance, evolution, and environmental issues.
