I’m not even going to begin this post by saying that I ‘used’ to watch The Neverending Story often as a child. I still watch it. Honestly, it doesn’t have the strongest plot of any fantasy novel/movie ever produced, but there is something lasting that urges you to hold it in your heart. Maybe it’s the puppet animation, or the sweeping and fantastical visual landscapes. For some, it could be the music. Though laden with 80’s cheese, it doesn’t hurt it’s overall appeal. I also have a fondness for vintage electronic based scores. In any case, The Neverending Story is what inspired me to create this painting, done in acrylic, of an oddly shaped mythical bunny. The ivory tower referred to in the title is a nod to the so named fortress which holds the unnamed princess deep within it’s opalescent walls. That sentence alone should send you running to find this movie, if, for some reason you were raised by wolves underneath a rock… and have never seen it. Thanks for reading.
