This is graphite on paper, and I just can't get a photo that doesn't have a cast on it. So thought I'd put it up as a post. I've got a new scanner coming shortly, and then I'll get a decent scan of it. The flowers are our native climber Clematis paniculata - much depleted now we have introduced opossums chomping on our forests.

Yes, Ana - do a Google image search and you will find heaps. They have great cascades of whirling seed heads when the flowers die off.

If you get one Ana, they like their roots shaded and their tops in the sunshine. (As if growing in a forest). They need rich, well-draining soil, with peat moss and fine scoria. Mulch to conserve moisture but they don't like waterlogged feet - hence the drainage. The Maori name 'Puawhananga' means 'sacred flower'.
