One of Alaska Railroad's passenger trains heading north toward Anchorage. Photo was taken from Bird Point wayside, along the Seward Highway, South-central Alaska. When looking past the train you will see the Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet and the Kenai Peninsula.
The Alaska Railroad has been in operation since 1923, approximately 35 years before statehood. The State of Alaska has owned and operated the railroad since 1985.
