ABOUT THE ART
In Amsterdam a spot in one of the canals where you can permanentely moore your houseboat is mostly more expensive than the boat itself. That's why speculants put old boats there and don't look after them. They're just waiting for the price of the mooring place to go up. It's a very profitable investment. So when you're touring the canals, you can find these battered, worn out, often heavenly damaged and rotting boats. The grungy look of the peeled off paint makes most interesting pictures. I digitally enhanced this one to make the colors stand out more.
