Jacob Boehme (1575 – 1624) was a German shoemaker turned visionary. His first book, "Aurora," led to threats of excommunication from a pastor Gregorius Richter.

Despite opposition to his cosmogonical and holistic views, Boehme kept thinking and writing. One his most popular books is "De Signatura Rerum," commonly known as "The Signature of All Things," where Boehme expounds his personal, Christian, Neoplatonist vision of the universe and how the material world reflects the immaterial.
