About this artwork
In 2001, with the assistance of my friend and fellow artist, Patrick Donnelly, Jr., I booked my first (and, so far, only) solo show at the Art/Not Terminal Gallery in Downtown Seattle. The show was too take place during the Spring 2002 art walk, and I was to prepare about a dozen new pieces. At the rate I normally work, this was quite an accelerated time line.
There was no theme for the show, but I was jumping off from the style I had developed with my final piece, "UnInvited", when I was at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1999.
"Comfortably Numb" was a piece I had finished prior to the show, but had not displayed yet. I completed it after I first moved from Phoenix to Seattle, painting it over an older piece I had done in High School. I didn't know anyone when I moved there and felt pretty lonely (and cold) for the first few months.
This is a cropped, vector version of the final piece, "Comfortably Numb", which is painted using Acrylics on 18" x 12" stretched canvas. The original painting was sold after the show.
