ABOUT THE ART
The land is barren, flat with termite mounds scattered for several thousand square kilometres. Some 2,000 kms from the point of this road the land finally meets the magnificent Gulf of Carpentaria in the far North of Queensland.
The total size of Queensland is a stunning 1 300 000Sq Kms. Queensland is nearly five times the size of Japan, seven times the size of Great Britain and two and a half times the size of Texas
Reaching the Gulf of Carpentaria at the seaside town of Karumba is an exciting end of the harsh inland to the beautiful blue ocean where the sunsets and sunrises are breathtaking. The Gulf is rich in marine life and popular for the serious fishermen who travel up to 6,000 kms or more to catch a prized Marlin or 20 foot crocodile.
To the left & right of the road are endless mounds of termite knolls.
When I did this Winnebago 50th Anniversery road trip with a convey of 30 other motor homes, I had travelled a round trip of nearly13,000kms.
