ABOUT THE ART
The 128 might not be the cutest or the most desirable of the small Fiat clan, yet it was probably one of the most significant in the evolution of the utilitarian car.
Unlike the 500, 600 or 850, this was a car ahead of its time, despite the then traditional boxy stile. It featured a front transversely mounted engine, front wheel drive, overhead camshaft, independent suspension all-round and servo-assisted disc brakes.
These features gave the little Fiat comfort, composure and a nice handling that invited the driver to exploit the lively engine. Therefore it wasn’t a surprise to see it in action at the European Touring Car Championship, at endurance races, rallies and hill climbs.
This colorful illustration by graphic artist Susana Real features a beautiful 128 Rally in a racy stile, with enlarged wheel arches and fog lights.
