ABOUT THE ART
Boots in the hall is a painting I created a few winters ago after taking a long walk through the woods in upstate NY. I had been walking with the dogs through the snow dusted sticks and leaves, following a trail that I frequented often. The snow on the path created a beautiful scene.
When dust approached, I whistled for the dogs through the cold, silent air. We trudged up the stairs, I knocked off my boots on the side of the house, and took them off in the entry way. After changing into pj's and starting a fire in the fireplace, I put the boots next to the fire to dry. With a red wine in one hand, and Patrick Watson placing in the background, I watched the brown boots drying slowly.
After staring at them and spacing for a bit, I realized just how beautiful the slumped over boots looked. Part of why I love to create art is because it allows me to see beauty in seemingly average looking things. When I take the time to view the world on a slower level, I find peace in the little things.
