I love this one. Your process seems very organic. What is your process, if you don't mind me asking :)
Heather Goodwind commented on July 30, 2011 5:06am
Thank you, Maribel. Yes, it is a very organic and often haphazard process: I often start with a bit of paint on glass which I monoprint onto the paper. Then I start drawing or painting over it, finding the shapes as I go. I almost never have a plan, so the outcome varies wildly with my moods.

That's awesome. You are very good at what you do! It feels like it would be more relaxing to work the way you do, not to expect a certain outcome, but to go with the flow and reveal-in a way- the final shape :D.

clever! my brain is always keeping up at night - i try to ignore it:) love your technique! very intuitive.
Heather Goodwind commented on July 30, 2011 9:59am
Thanks! I have to admit that there is nothing I find more stressful than sitting in front of a blank piece of paper trying to imagine what it might look like when it's finished. Though I have imposed a few rules to keep the pressure on: I work in books, I number the pages and I never, ever rip any of them out. That means that every single one must become a finished drawing, no matter how badly it starts out I just keep working on it until it's finished, I sign it and then I don't touch it again. I also won't start a new book until all the pages of the last one are finished - so I find myself at the end of the book going back and fixing all the unfinished ones. I guess it's kind of a technique to keep my brain in check but still catch everything it catches on at the same time....

Very cool. You are diligent!! I tend to have to follow my gut and see what emerges. If I over think it I run into trouble:). And I know I mentioned it before but I love how your signature is an element. I don't even like signing but I do very small initials.

I really like your work, it is delicate, simple but complicate, tender, inspiring :))
