no vacancy, sign, neon, red, black, minimal, night vertical, light, signs, city, hotel, night life, pure, gradient, bright, high contrast, No Vacancy (on our way from Fresno CA to Spokane WA) All the hotels and motels were booked from Portland to Umatilla because country singer Willie Nelson was performing that weekend in Goldendale. So, we drove until 3 in the morning searching for a room. We had been driving the whole day, more than 17 hours on a road at the point I took this photograph. My husband had parked the truck with all our household next to a roadside motel which had rejected us, and fell asleep right in a driver’s seat. I didn’t want to disturb him, so I was wandering around in the night taking pictures of that sad and incredibly significant ”No Vacancy” sign. No one seemed awake for miles and miles around. The whole world slept. It was one of those nights. (NO POST PROCESSING has been used)
