Photocompellia (light-gatherer)

by Will Santino

Collect your choice of gallery quality Giclée, or fine art prints custom trimmed by hand in a variety of sizes with a white border for framing.

The Photocompellia (light-gatherer) lives in the vitreous humour, an enormous glacial hall in the labyrinth of our eyes. It collects the photons that bombard our retina, turning their chaos into order. Turning non-sense into sense. Maximilian Van Duult, who coined the term Photocompellia in 1662, once wrote, in a letter to his favorite weathervane, "What explanation is there for Blindness, besides Extinction?"

Close your eyes. Consider.

I like to think about what he might do with all the lil light bubbles - roll them along the floor to trip schoolchildren? What sound would it make if you smashed one with your teeth?
