Popocatepetl is an active stratovolcano. Situated on the borders of the states of Morelos, Puebla and Mexico, Central Mexico, is located about 70 km southeast of Mexico City. His name means "smoky mountain" in Nahuatl. It is part of Izta Zoquiapan-Popo National Park. Its summit reaches 5426 meters above sea level and is the second highest in Mexico, after the Pico de Orizaba.
