ABOUT THE ART
I'm back! To explain the larger-than-usual gap between recent posts; final exams took up the first two weeks in June, then I took a week or so to settle down, and then spent the last week of June in Holland, visiting Amsterdam, and the MotoGP Circuit, Assen. It was a busy month!
Now, on to the drawing. Mainly, this drawing was inspired by the idea of keeping in touch. In the next week or so (!) I'll be seeing one of my best friends for this first time in a good few years. I can't wait for her visit, and I keep thinking of ways to keep in touch after her visit ends.
It was also partly inspired by my first smartphone, which was a complete novelty to me when I first got it. The more I thought about, the more I considered how far technology has come. One of my favourite styles through the years, I think, is the classic icon of the rotary dial telephone, dating back to 1891. One of my favourite details about it is the vintage typography in the centre, telling the user to 'wait for dial tone.'
