ABOUT THE ART
There are 54 species of seahorse, a highly unusual ocean fish who's Greek name, hippocampus, comes from the words for "horse" and "sea monster". They have a horse like head, bony body armor, and a flexible, prehensile tail. Seahorses are known for their unusual parental care, in which the father carries the fertilized eggs in a pouch and later "gives birth" to the tiny offspring.
This artwork features a silhouette of a seahorse on an original zentangle patchwork background.
