Wonderful!! One question, Michael: do you photograph your paintings or do you scan them?

Thank you Monika, Catherine, and Angelo.
To answer your question Angelo ... some of my works are too large to scan. I have heard that scanning is superior to photographing for reproduction though. For my stuff, I use two photo lights to either side of my work and photograph each work with the Olympus PEN E-PL1 digital camera. It is one of the only cameras I have found that takes good pictures of my work, without distortion or artifacts. What do you use to get your non-digital works online? Sometimes I wish I was a digital artist. It would eliminate the difficult step of reproduction.

Thank you Michael for your answer... your paintings are always so pristine and beautifully reproduced, I was wondering whether in fact you were just scanning them... you're doing an amazing work with the camera too! And I wouldn't trade your excellence in painting for the digital world if I were you! I used to paint and generally create art and graphics manually before I got totally swallowed up by the digital revolution, which has its advantages and beauty too... still longing for that "real" presence of paints, pencils and inks though! I usually scan my small non digital pieces and photograph the bigger ones but that's something I try to avoid as my photographic equipment isn't quite adequate for the task!! Time to shell out on a brand new Nikon I guess! ;-)
