I visited the Taos Pueblo several years ago. I paid to enter as an artist and had intended on doing conté crayon drawings of the architecture and surroundings. I also took my camera along. It was a mystical experience. I was even invited into several homes in the large Pueblo structure. There is no indoor plumbing or electricity in the homes but the people still seemed very content. It was extremely cold outside that day-to cold to sit and draw. So I imagined in a bunch of twig like sketches what it was like to be there. This print was one of the sketches-done as a serigraph in an edition of 50. It includes part of the pueblo, an outdoor oven and a kiva-a place where the men of the tribe climb down by ladder into a underground room where ceremonies and weaving take place.
