About this artwork
The highest peak in the Tararuas (North Island, New Zealand) is The Mitre at 5154'. Go there in the summer time, and when you reach the top the hills roll away from you in all directions like a tawny lion's back.
This is looking north west from the top of The Mitre towards The Brocket. The name, whichever way you take it, is animal-related. "Brock" is an Old English slang name for badger. Alternatively, brocket is a medium-sized species of South American deer.
I'm posting this image as a follow-up to a comment I made on Wayne Edson Bryan's "Head of a Dead Cat" at http://society6.com/wayneedsonbryan/The-Head-of-a-Dead-Cat_Print
Acrylic on canvas board 25 x 30in. I've never offered this painting for sale, and I somehow don't think I ever will.
