ABOUT THE ART
This is a shot of a painting that I made when I was in elementary school. It now hangs at my parents house just up the stairs. I re-purposed it by making it black and white and extending the height of the sails, then added some touches by putting in what looks like a watercolor black voodoo skull into what had become the night sky to give it an ominous feel.
As for the name Charles Vane was a pirate captain who sailed a brigantine called the Ranger. He met his fate at the end of a rope in Gallows Point in Port Royal, Jamaica in 1721 after a long career of violence and piracy.
"Charles, I shan't trust you aboard my ship, unless I carry you a prisoner; for I shall have you plotting with my men, knock me on the head and run away with my ship a pirating." - Captain Holford.
