The key to the whole thingby Chris Piascik
ABOUT THE ART
I just watched the trailer for a movie called ‘ Bill Cunningham New York.’ It documents an 80+ year old New York Times photographer named Bill Cunningham. Cunningham’s work chronicles fashion trends and it’s clear he is dedicated to his art. He also seems like an incredibly interesting person—I’d like to check this movie out.
During the trailer Cunningham states, “If you don’t take money, they can’t tell you what to do. That’s the key to the whole thing.” That is certainly true—and it’s also one of the reasons I’ve kept up with my daily drawing project these past 3+ years. It gives me a chance to speak my mind and express freely without worrying what a client would think about it.
