ABOUT THE ART
Mascots of www.mayorgate.blogspot.com in coloured pencil.
The Emancipated Monkeys figuratively spin the well known pictorial maxim "three wise monkeys" on its head. The concept of the monkeys as part of the pictorial maxim originated from Japan and came from a play on words. While this pictorial maxim has many cultural, modern and religious applications, for Mayorgate it represents the freedom of not being afraid to stand up to those who think it wrong to report less than flattering truths. These monkeys see all evil, hear all evil, and speak of all evil - without fear.
