The Wild Goose, ©2010.

This is the famous "Wild Goose" yacht that John Wayne owned many years. He actually loved being at sea. Wayne originally planned to go into the U.S. Navy and applied to the U.S. Naval Academy but was not accepted. The rest we know is history and this yacht was Wayne's sanctuary and getaway when he was not filming. It's homeport is the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, California. This lovely yacht is currently owned and maintained by Hornblower Cruises & Events. Click the link for more information on this majestic yacht.;jsessionid=54682C669DE22AD911F87CFAFF6EE491

I'm with Chris, this panoramic capture is great! I feel as if I was standing there on the dock as this cool yacht comes into port. Awesome! Thanks for the link and the background on it. Great work!

Wow, thank you Chris and PhotoLover! You're very kind. Yes I was standing there on the dock just as it pulled up. Very lucky! The yacht has so much history to it and opens a view into John Wayne's private life not many knew about. It's clear that the Duke had impecable taste! Thanks again!
