About this artwork
Una Noche Tranquila En Honduras : A Tranquil Night In Honduras
This photograph captures a calm moment at night in El Progreso, Honduras, C.A.
According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Honduras has the highest rate of intentional homicide in the world, with 6,239 intentional homicides, or 82.1 per 100,000 of the population in 2010.
This night is treasured as a moment without those occurrences, and as a hope to prevent crime in the future.
As a member of Students Helping Honduras, I strive to educate the children of Honduras in order to prevent crime. With our efforts to help the children of Honduras to grow, they will have the opportunity to fulfill authoritative positions in office where they can bring good changes to their country.

Cecikids is the sister organization of SHH which carries out all of the projects on the ground in Honduras. The organization has built schools throughout northern Honduras, has built a village for 300 people from a shantytown, provided school scholarships to girls, and runs a small children’s home. The organization hosts nearly 1,000 volunteers from all over the world each year in Honduras, and nearly 100 high schools and universities have created SHH Chapters to raise funds and help the organization reach its goal of building 1,000 schools in Honduras.
