Utopia in Six or Seven Colorsby John Magnet Bell
ABOUT THE ART
Utopia: "No place."
There are numerous literary utopias, of which the grandmammy is Thomas More's well-known "Utopia."
Imaginary lands of peace and plenty are a constant feature of human imagination -- Francis Bacon wrote an utopia as well, and so did the famed American psychologist B.F. Skinner.
Collectively we long for a place where people are honest and kind, for cities we can fall in love with, for spaces that challenge imagination and make artists out of us. Imagining utopia is essential to living art and the art of living.
