ABOUT THE ART
Depending on your age, It may be hard to believe that the United States Post Office Department didn't introduce zip codes until 1963. In an effort to persuade Americans to use the new five-digit code at the end of mailing addresses, the Post Office introduced Mr. Zip, a friendly cartoon mail carrier. It was the job of Mr. Zip, sometimes referred to as "Zippy", to remind Americans to use the new zip code system which would lead to faster, more efficient mail delivery for the entire country.
