Rickey's Art

Rickey Hoefnagel was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. As a young woman, she immigrated to the United States. She has been an active artist for the past 26 years, beginning as an oil painter, then switching to acrylics as her primary medium 7 years ago. She has studied with a number of teachers, including Kanya Burgreff from the Serge Bongart school of Russian Impressionism and the visionary artist Rassouli, founder of Fusionart International. Her vivid and harmonious colors flourish with powerful expressive movement woven into a vision of mystery and delight. The viewer cannot help but be drawn into the rich color and enigmatic imagery. Rickey’s art has been shown in many galleries across California, including James Gray Gallery at Bergamot Station Art Center in Santa Monica, Gallery C in Hermosa Beach, Highway 111 Gallery in La Quinta, Pacific Art Center in West Los Angeles, and a solo exhibit at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage. She was featured as Artist of the Month in October, 2011, at the Banning Center for the Arts. In 2012 her work was selected for The Artist’s Eye, a juried art show at the Showcase Gallery in South Coast Plaza. Her work, Celebrate Life, was a featured piece in the Peace Project 2012 traveling exhibition and her work, Love of Peace, will be a featured piece in the Peace Project 2013 traveling exhibition. In Arizona she has exhibited at the Tucson Museum of Art with the Grammy-nominated composer Michael Hoppe. Rickey’s work has been published in several books recently: •Fusionart by Rassouli •Peace Project 2012 and Peace Project 2013 •Bridging Heaven and Earth Art Project In addition to selling and exhibiting her art, Rickey teaches painting privately and to small groups of artists from beginner to advanced.
