Shelestart

Flights in dreams and in reality My name is Polina Shelest. I was born in a town on the sea in 1990. As long as I can remember, I've always loved to draw and I knew from the beginning – this is what I want to do for my freedom and for the living. I studied 3 years at children's Art and Craft studio, later 7 years at Childrens' Art School named after Seraphima Blonskaya. I graduated Southern Federal University, Design faculty, in 2013 and received MFA in book illustration. Now I live in my town and continue to pursue my career in art. Most of all I interested in painting, clay and plasticine modeling as well. My favorite style is surrealism and lowbrow art. I prefer to work with acrylic paint, pencil, ink. I fond of the old masters’ painting technique, glazing especially, so I inspect it very careful and try to put my knowledge to use. When I was a kid I like to pore over paintings full of details, for example Bosch’s reproductions. Since then he’s one of my favorite artist and example to follow. My art is about I see in my dreams, communicating of fantasy and reality. My inspirational objects are Nature and her incredible creatures, particular constellation of colors, forms and patterns, peoples’ feeling, childhood memories, bedtime stories, my own dreams and many, many other little things which could suddenly touch me to the bottom of my heart. My works fill with impressions, symbols and many spider-work details so every time you look at the picture you could notice new ones. I create Alternative Universes you will visit once you allow yourself to forget about reality. In my Shelestart shop, you can find affordable giclee prints with excellent quality from my original work. If you want to buy originals, please check my website shelestart.com, and contact me.
