From Russia with Love + Giveaway
If you dream of fantastical far off places or dazzling distant lands, you’ll be taken with our newest graphic, Imaginary Castle by LA-based illustrator Patrick Hruby. Imaginary Castle brings an Eastern European design sensibility to life with ornamental details, vibrant colors and onion-shaped domes. This bold graphic appeals to the vivid imaginations and fairy tale inclinations of children and adults alike.
Don’t I Know You? Patrick first paired up with Blik in 2010 when he was a graduating student (and we might add, the Spring 2010 valedictorian) at the renowned Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Earlier that year, Blik mentored Patrick’s fellow Art Center peers in the school’s Advanced Illustration Studio class. This serendipitous connection led Patrick to turn to Blik for the manufacture of his final project, Imagine Something Beautiful. The transformation of his original illustration into a wall graphic was easy as Imaginary Castle was always conceived as a decal.
Imaginary Castle Comes to Blik. Imaginary Castle is available in two sizes: a 36-inch wide wall decal and 6-foot wide wall decal. When Patrick created Imaginary Castle, he envisioned a magical place large enough, according to him, “to make you feel as if you were there.” The design pays respect to Patrick’s storied Eastern Europe heritage and his grandparents. Patrick had always been fascinated with Eastern European design and wanted to try his hand at it. We think just by looking at the graphic, you’ll be transported to a color-filled playground.
GIVEAWAY! We love Patrick’s creative initiative of imagining beautiful places. To get your artistic juices flowing, we are giving away 5 Imaginary Castle Giant Floor Puzzles by AMMO Books. How to Win: What magical far off place do you imagine traveling to? Let us know by commenting below – just make sure it’s by 11:59pm PST on Thursday, June 23, 2011. Five winners will be randomly selected and notified by June 27*. Good luck!
*The Imaginary Castle Giant Floor Puzzles will ship in late-August.

Forget raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Today Blik brings you a few of our favorite things: three neat-o new wall decals from our Threadless Especial line, the curated collection of Threadless graphics handpicked by Blik and Threadless.
We love the vivid, kaleidoscope-ish design of “Color Wheel,” the magical illustrations hidden in “LOVE,” and the whiskers on the cute kitten in “M!aw.” Okay, so maybe there’s one thing we can keep from that song.
And if your walls start to look better dressed than you do, these designs are also available as tees from Threadless.

What’s playing at our offices? Take a look (and a listen) at The Playlist on Herman Miller’s Lifework blog featuring Blik co-founders Scott Flora and Jerinne Neils.
Kickback and enjoy their playlist, while also taking a peek into our design office. Did you know Scott was a former drummer and DJ and has an aversion to headphones? Or that Jerinne listens to music through her sweet Jambox and her favorite radio station is Santa Monica-based KCRW? See, you learn something new about Blik everyday.
Now, tell us what’s on your work playlist?

Spotted in the newest issue of Easy Decorating is our Nessa headboard. It’s included in their list of eight noteworthy decorating innovations that make decorating easier, faster and more affordable. Sounds like a perfect checklist for the benefits of decorating with Blik!
The magazine (a Woman’s Day special issue) is on newsstands until July 25, so you’ve got time to pick it up and peruse. The issue also includes a list of favorite things from home design bloggers at Apartment Therapy, decor8, Remodelista and designsponge. We’ve already picked out some of their recommended items to order for ourselves!

What Do Lovebirds, A Barcode and a Lonely Sock Monkey Have in Common?
Any guesses? They are all new Threadless Especial graphics at Blik. You’ll remember that last month, we relaunched our Threadless line as Threadlesss Especial, a curated collection of Threadless graphics handpicked by both Blik and Threadless.
Today, we’ve got three fun graphics for your wall hanging pleasure. Sock Monkey Just Wants a Friend is a mash-up of Godzilla and a confused sock monkey who’s just looking for a little attention. To Scan a Forest proves that barcodes are everywhere – even in nature. And Lovebirds is a sweet, simple design that will warm your heart.
All three designs are available at Blik today. And if you like the designs, don’t forgot to pop over to Threadless to see the matching tees.

"Doodle Our Wall" Winning Graphics Now at Blik
As most of you know, last month we teamed up with the super creative Doodlers Anonymous for the “Doodle Our Wall” Showcase. Today, we are excited to unveil the three winning decals as our newest Blik products.
While the original idea was to have one drawing turned into a limited edition Blik wall decal, after reviewing all 99 submissions, we chose to crown three winners. We have one winner with the most community votes, as well as two Editor’s Picks.
Harikrishnan Panicker’s “Rock.Pop.Death” was selected as the fan favorite with the most votes and is being printed as a limited 100-piece run. The two Editor Picks: “Irregular Mesh” by Camila León and “The Trip” by Michelle Lasalvia are being printed as limited edition 50-piece runs.
All three Doodlers Anonymous graphics are limited editions, so once they’re gone, they’re really gone. Don’t dawdle, get a doodle!
