Introducing All Over Print T-Shirts to Society6!

Introducing our brand new All Over Tees. They're kinda like tattoos in the shape of a t-shirt, only way less expensive and doesn't hurt like hell to get one...but they do look rad.

-- If you're looking to buy All Over Print Tees, click here.

Big thanks to everyone for your patience while we figured out adding this one to the mix. These have been a long time comin.

 artist: Valeriya Volkova

ABOUT THE PRINTING PROCESS:

All artwork is printed to American Apparel blank white tees made of 100% polyester - which means moisture-wicking and an incredibly vibrant print. Because they have that cotton-soft feel, you can expect a comfort in the cut n feel as well. They're unisex sized, which means ladies may want to shop a size down.

Please note: Because every t-shirt ordered is printed using a two-sided sublimation process, it's not uncommon to have minor imperfections near the seams or under the arm.

UPLOADING YOUR ASSET:

Hey guys - Please be sure your artwork fills the entire square. We've ran into a few printing issues because we weren't clear enough in our original guide. All Over Print Shirts guide has been updated on the Asset Upload page.

Much like other products, All Over Tees will require their own asset upload. We know..."another asset".

Navigate to any product page, click "ADD T-SHIRTS & MORE", then upload a maximum quality PNG or JPG (RGB Color) that is exactly 6000px (width) X 6000px (height).

. . ★ . . :: Halò Ben . thank you . although this will take a considerable amount of time to update all my products and I am more interested in producing new work . not in editing work I've already published . .

. . wish there was a way for you to make it happen automatically like you've done before with other products where the new product is added to our product line with each new launch . .

In our Behind the Scenes for Asset Upload s6 states ::
"Throw Pillows / Tote Bags / Shower Curtains / Duvet Covers | Please select a maximum quality JPG (RGB Color) that is a perfect square of at least 3500px (width) X 3500px (height); up to 6500px X 6500px for optimal resolution."

That is why I've used 6500px X 6500px with all my squares . .

With this new asset it would be good with this size so I wouldn't have to resize every single image in my entire portfolio . . a daunting task !!!

. . more work . . and I haven't even had time yet to deal with all the leggings . . oh je . . seriously . . this is going to take forever . . .

Even so . . it is nice to have my images cover an entire shirt . . so I do like it . . wish it had always been this way all along . . .

Question for S6 TECH - I've uploaded a heap of designs and they look great, until the image for the mans tee appears. There is a lot of black, mostly on the sleeves and shoulder line where there should be pattern. I created my files using the template provided and masked off the design outside of the templates t-shirt shape. Is this a rendering issue that can/will be sorted or do we need more image outside of the t-shirt line on the template? Thanks
Wealie commented on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 12:40pm
Nice to see all over print tees. Looking forward to trying out a few designs
Matt Weg commented on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 12:40pm
@william, your design will be printed on both sides of the shirt. We'll have a back preview very soon so your customers can see it. Thanks for your patience waiting for the images to appear.
Matt Weg commented on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 12:45pm
@alice, the template is a guide for positioning the artwork, but our manufacturers need a large bleed area. So we recommend filling the entire 6k x 6k area with your art and use the guide to help you position it. Your designs look great!
Marionette Taboniar commented on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 12:48pm
Wow! This is great news!! Can't wait to try adding some :-) ALOHA!!!
Alice Gosling commented on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 12:50pm
Thanks Matt, I'll have to redo them all . You lose so much if you fill all the empty space, with patterns it's not so bad, but with pictures you don't get much on the tee. It wasn't needed for the leggings, so I thought I could do it the same. Ho hum, onwards and upwards, thanks for such a quick reply, appreciated

Plane Yogurt commented on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 1:02pm
Quick question, you're printing on both sides... but only needing us to upload one file... can I assume that the artwork NOT contained within the shirt mask is what's being printed in the back?

Cheers

Tosha Lobsinger is my Photogra… commented on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 7:05pm
LOVE THIS!!!!!!! Is there a way to customize the back of the shirt??? I hope it is not simply a copy of the front design. A copy would look weird with some of my images (and I am sure this will apply to other artists too!)... for instance one of my images is a lone fox in front of a forest... I would love to have the fox on the front and forest (no fox) on the back... you get me? Thanks!!!
Wendy Townrow commented on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 7:27pm
Thomas ....no! they mean a jpg ... the white areas will be transparent and the colour of the fabric will show through. On a PNG the white areas are printed white.
David Procter commented on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 7:38pm
These would be awesome if you opened up the options to have a different image on the back. Sadly as it stands I don't think it would work very well with my work
Harvey Warwick commented on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 7:47pm
One major omission - the only place you can see the All Over Print shirts is from the one link on your artist home page. There is no Also Available As link on each individual design page for the All Over Print shirts, though there is one for all the other product types where available. Please add this so customers can see these new shirts!

Thank you everyone for feedback. We're stoked to finally release these!

@SharonMau - Since we've opened up the upload process, as you can imagine we're processing tens of thousands of previews - which means there will be a short wait time to get your preview images up and running. Rest assured, your previews are in queue. If they don't pop up after a day or more, please shoot us a direct message through our contact page - our customer service team rocks.

re: Interlacing - None.

As for your comment regarding asset size - it's a good point and we've had that conversation. But all artists will be notified as we make headway in this. Thank you for this feedback though. Incredibly helpful! I'm sure we'll be discussing more.

@Thomas Pettit - So basically, JPGs with true white in the artwork would print the same as a PNG where all true white areas were erased (and made transparent)

@isakazu - Go to any one of your product pages and click "ADD T-SHIRTS & MORE". A few products down, you'll see the ability to upload All Over Print Shirts.

@La Leslie Nicole - Go to any one of your product pages and click "ADD T-SHIRTS & MORE". A few products down, you'll see All Over Print Shirts - and the option to download the PNG template.

I second what Harvey Warwick said:

"One major omission - the only place you can see the All Over Print shirts is from the one link on your artist home page. There is no Also Available As link on each individual design page for the All Over Print shirts, though there is one for all the other product types where available. Please add this so customers can see these new shirts!"

Otherwise. I was gobsmacked when I heard this AWESOME news!

Great product! What is the standard production and shipping time?
Andrew Treherne commented on Thursday, June 18, 2015 11:30am
Absolutely awesome guys, thank you. I don't mean to sound greedy but... As you're printing them twice (front and back) anyway, would it be possible at some point to have a second, separate asset upload for the back? Pleeeeeeeeeeeease!
lessdanthree commented on Thursday, June 18, 2015 11:32am
I had he same question as Spires. About how long do these take to make?
Also, this is printed on the front and back? That's what you mean by 2 sided correct?

It's Matt from the S6 engineering again. We are now showing under 30-second delays for rendering all-over-print shirts. We underestimated the response from the S6 artists community to this product and had to scale our servers to keep up with the demand. Thanks for your patience. Happy uploading!

lessdanthree commented on Thursday, June 18, 2015 2:02pm
Another question... are there mens/womens tees because I only see size selection and the rendered images look slightly different for men and women
Plane Yogurt commented on Thursday, June 18, 2015 3:13pm
While I am excited about this, putting the same design on both sides of the shirt isn't really going to work for me. I did a test with my cat portraits and they looked REALLY COOL! But I don't think that they would have looked as cool with the dual image. In any case, I can't really promote it to my customers until there is a back preview so they can see what they are buying.
So two requests... separate asset load for the back of the shirt, and also could you send out an email when the back shirt preview is available. I'm excited to put my designs up but my customers need to see it first.
Ben Renschen commented on Thursday, June 18, 2015 4:35pm
Hey all - Yes, the t-shirts are printed on front and back. Just updated the blog post to include a short video showing it!

@spires - These products will be printed and shipped the same as our other products. In case you haven't seen this already - http://society6.com/help#-Jrd_4x1-FXH74nxzcgm

@Andrew Treherne - we hear you! You're not alone!

@lessdanthree - Correction - The t-shirts are unisex. They may look slightly different in the previews due to body shape and size in the preview.
John Magnet Bell commented on Thursday, June 18, 2015 5:27pm
This is an awesome feature and I'm quite impressed with the renders I've seen so far. Already getting positive feedback from people I showed my new t-shirt designs to.

Glad to hear you guys are working on speeding up the rendering process, as the first couple of files took at least half an hour to show up.

I too thought that the design process would be similar to the one we're using for the leggings, where you can basically mask unused sections of the artwork. But when all is said and done I guess filling up the whole 6k X 6k square is simpler.

Other than that, keep up the good work!

Thanks Ben. Good to know ;-) Duplicating front and back works great for patterns but not for pictures. If you can manage the second upload for backs that would be awesome. As an option, you can always just dupe the single asset by default if people don't upload a second.

MG-Studio commented on Friday, June 19, 2015 6:52am
I agree with many of the other artists, I too would prefer if we can choose what is printed on the back side of the shirt. Maybe create a template for the shirt much like you guys did for the leggings, where we have the control over the front and back. Many of the designs (like photography, typography, digital art scenes etc.) won't look great if duplicated on the back.
Ben Renschen commented on Friday, June 19, 2015 8:07am
@Andrew Treherne - Ya, totally understand. And duping by default is a great idea.

@Standpoorstudios, @John Magnet Bell, @Speakerine/Florent Bodart, @AnnaF31, @MG-Studio - We hear you guys loud and clear! Obviously, it's a bit more than simply "adding the option", but our product team will definitely be exploring it. A true thank you for the feedback.
Moisés Ferreira commented on Friday, June 19, 2015 10:06am

Hello all... I'm new here, so maybe this is an old question. The length and width of all products is given, but what resolution, 200 pi, 300 pi, 600 pi are you using? (Or some other successful resolutions numbers)? Love this site, love s6, and there's wonderful talent here! Trying to get a foothold...

So awesome!! I already sell one of my work on this version! Really great!
Andrew Treherne commented on Friday, June 19, 2015 2:33pm
@ Robert Wahl and The Imagine Nation: when pixel dimensions are used dpi values are meaningless. 6000 pixels is still 6000 pixels regardless of how many of them fit into an inch. Use whatever dpi value you are comfortable with. Hope that helps.
Robert Wahl commented on Friday, June 19, 2015 3:35pm
Andrew... ??? resolution is actually the size of the pixel... a resolution of 600 pi has much smaller pixels than 72 pi, thus better resolution because it's carrying more image information... NO? Perhaps the moderators of this blog could chime in and tell us what they recommend... You can "over" resolute just as easily as "under" resolute, both will botch an image... regardless of what width/length you have... (I'm just interested in what most folks here are successfully using as their resolution, what seems to be the "sweet spot" for each s6 product.)
Nguyen commented on Friday, June 19, 2015 3:38pm
What will the back of the shirt look like? Exactly the same as the front?
LennyB commented on Friday, June 19, 2015 4:55pm
Is there an ALL OVER tank top available?! I have a great idea for that should you make them available!!! XD
Andrew Treherne commented on Friday, June 19, 2015 6:44pm
Robert, yes, the resolution tells you the size of the pixel, but 6000 pixels is 6000 pixels regardless of how big or small they are. I usually set mine at 300dpi, just because that's what is standard for print work, but it really wont matter. I think that is the reason S6 tells us specific pixel dimensions, so that we can't mess it up ;-)
Robert Wahl commented on Friday, June 19, 2015 7:15pm
LOL, resolution is a tough subject... but I have to say, 6000 pixels at 72 pi carries much less "image" information than 300 pi, and it's image information that determines the quality of the print at a corresponding length/width... I suppose the printers at s6 should weigh in at this point and tell us what settings they generally get the best results from their machines. They have the most experience and practical information with them. ;-)
Andrew Treherne commented on Friday, June 19, 2015 9:00pm
OK, I'll let S6 explain it for sure. Just trying to help. I thought I'd save them the time.

Robert Wahl commented on Saturday, June 20, 2015 9:49am
Andrew... hey, if s6 says 6000 X 6000 at 72 pi... I'm all for it. I'm just asking what resolution others are using successfully.

Love the products (all over T's and leggings), but your renderers leave MUCH to be desired. They never display correctly and are a huge pain to try to look at. They either don't show up at all, or just sit and spin when you click on them (have tried 2 different browsers). I did send an email yesterday, and got a reply asking for more info - buy my 'more info' only got me an unmonitored email box canned reply. :(
Sharon Cummings commented on Sunday, June 21, 2015 12:42pm

http://society6.com/product/to-the-co...&4=75&5=18

And this is what it looks like on the All Over Printed Shirt:

http://society6.com/product/to-the-co...irt#57=422

It looks as though the skull is squared or something. And it looks like an alien on the female version of the shirt. Maybe you guys should've taken a picture of just the shirt laying flat down and not have someone wear it cause I think that people won't even be interested in buying most of these due to how bad the designs are looking on them.
Jan4insight commented on Monday, June 22, 2015 1:43pm
Nice addition to our product line - I've made several "matching sets" with all-over shirts and leggings! However - the all over shirts still aren't showing up in the "also available as" scroll for their designs. This limits customers from them! Any word on when this will get fixed? Please :)
Panther Scouts commented on Monday, June 22, 2015 3:19pm
I have uploaded a PNG with transparency, and the whole transparent area is showing up as black. I assume that's not right, but this PNG was created the same way all my other partially transparent PNGs were made for regular t-shirts. Do I need to do something else to get transparency to work right here?

Matt Weg commented on Monday, June 22, 2015 5:31pm
@MG-Studio, our research has shown that customers like to know what the product will look like when they wear it, which is why we model the products whenever possible. Our 3D rendering process is designed to distort your design in the same way that someone wearing the end product would distort it. I've looked at your designs and I understand your concerns. We'll keep working to make our previews look as close to the final product as possible.
David Zydd commented on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 1:10am
Why man's shirts are the default? It's really bad-looking compared to woman's shirts.
How can a customer select woman's shirt?
How can I share the picture of a woman's shirt?
Waynem commented on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 2:26am
This is fantastic! The best new product addition there's been in a while. I'm updating my products now and love the design possibilities this opens up, but I'd definitely add my vote for having the option of making the back at least just a solid colour. I think that's the best option for art that isn't pattern based.
qu.one commented on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 8:46am
This is definitely great - however the preview is showing artwork on an all black shirt. So if your artwork is only black, it shows up as a blank black shirt. Is there a way to change that?

@Matt Weg or @Ben Renschen - I've came to ask a question, I've read the thread since I was last here and the question has been asked at least twice, but as yet no response. Could you look at why, when I view any product (other than the Print All Over Tee), in my portfolio, the PAOT is not visible in the scrollable 'Also available as' section. Every product is there except the PAOT. This is not a time issue, as in for just newly uploaded designs, I have designs which have been up since the second day which are not visible in that section. Is difficult for customers to see you are selling a PAOT of a certain design if they do not show up at all. Thanks in advance for feedback
Zoo&co on Society6 Products commented on Thursday, June 25, 2015 1:14pm
It would be great to have a preview of the back of the Tee! Even better to be able to have a different image for the back. Please don't forget to put Onesies back again!
Matt Weg commented on Thursday, June 25, 2015 3:47pm
@Alice Gosling, I looked at your profile and the PAOT is listed on the 'also available as' section, but it is the very last product listed. You should see a grey '>' on the right side of that section, if you click it twice you will see the PAOT product preview. Our product team is aware of your input. We're working hard to improve the experience for our customers and give our artists more control over how their product are configured.
Mona Harris commented on Thursday, June 25, 2015 11:26pm
Really frustrated with not being able to get my image for the AOPT to show in items available to purchase. It uploads and I can click in zoom image but when I go the page everything else is there >mugs, SC, LT, IP, prints ect... just not the AOPT.< I have uploaded the image in JPEG and PNG but neither work? Hi,
I think this can be a really interesting and incredible product... however, a friend of mine just received an "All over print T-shirt" and he told me that it's really transparent in white areas. The fabric is really thin.
Do you know if in the future this will be improve? I do not like the idea that some T-shirt areas, where the design is white, are such transparent.... but I noticed that Society6 products are always becoming better and better, so I'm hopeful...
Thank you!
