Introducing The Artist Studio

I'm excited to announce a new (and long-requested feature) for Society6: our brand new art / product upload and publishing system - the Artist Studio!

For much of 2016, the Society6 development team has been working under the hood for this release and the many additional upgrades to come. For years you've worked with our classic upload system, and while many have learned to use it well, many others have suffered through limitations in both efficiency and flexibility.

When setting out to build a completely new upload system, we relied on your feedback and our own experience to solve 3 major problems: complexity, discoverability, control. And the initial release tackles those in some unique ways.

1. "Too many assets required."

Introducing the Artist Studio

Our classic uploader required many individual assets to enable all product types. This caused a lot of back and forth between external tools and the S6 uploader. We now minimize that need, by supporting the upload of a single high resolution file (which we call the "key art") to be automatically applied to as many product types as the file's resolution will allow.

Aren't satisfied with our best auto-configuration results? You can override the key art for any product with a new file of your choice in a few simple clicks.

To further reduce the need to leave the uploader, you can now size and position your key art file within each individual product directly within the browser. Each adjustment quickly renders an inline preview so you no longer need to upload, check, reconfigure, repeat!

2. "Nobody can find my products."

Introducing the Artist Studio

There are an amazing amount of updates to enhance discoverability on Society6 coming soon, but it all starts with having the right amount and type of data.

So we have expanded on the number of ways you can classify your new work.

Before, a title, description and limited pre-set list of tags (categories) was all that was required. But with greater levels of detail, we become more effective at putting the right product, with the right design in front of a world of potential customers looking for products like yours.

We can't understate the value of having rich context around the work you've made. The more accurate and detailed you are, the more you help us (and search engines) surface your work in the most relevant ways.

You can read a more detailed breakdown of the importance and best practices here or check out the details section of our Uploader Demonstration Video below.

3. "I want to control which products I sell."

Introducing the Artist Studio

Thanks to the removal of product-specific assets, you can now enable or disable each product individually.

Or more simply, what you sell, or don't sell, is completely up to you.

For example, if you previously wanted to sell phone cases it also meant you were forced to sell stationery cards. Now you can choose to sell either (or both, or none)! Which also means for the first time you can sell any product in the Society6 portfolio without having to first enable art prints.

While we don't recommend this as art is our most popular category, we know many of you are not able to sell all designs as all products. Those constraints no longer inhibit your ability to take advantage of the other products we offer, at your absolute discretion.

------

That covers the primary bases, but they're not inclusive of all the exciting enhancements you'll find, such as a new artwork management page to quickly preview, edit or publish/unpublish products in one place, or the fact we've increased royalty flexibility for Framed Prints, Metal Prints and Stretched Canvas (you're going to want to read more on that one).

While we've worked hard to make the new system as intuitive as possible, there may be questions as you go. We put together a "short" video tutorial to walk you through everything with a skip-to table of contents if you're looking for something specific.

As you get more familiar with the Artist Studio, we invite your comments, concerns, suggestions and anything else you'd like to send our way through the small Feedback button you'll see in the lower right corner of your screen while in the uploader. These submissions go directly to our development team - they are eagerly awaiting your feedback!

We anticipate most artists will flourish with the new tools, but change can be tough and for those that need time to update their workflows the classic uploader will persist for a time, while we gather feedback and roll out improvements.

Please note: While we have both upload systems in place, please stick with one or the other to create or edit posts. Any post created or edited in the Artist Studio can't be edited in the classic uploader without losing all the changes you have made (including enabled products, size and position, tags, etc.). We have a warning in place as a reminder so this doesn't happen accidentally.

As the single largest update we've ever made to Society6, we're already planning for ways to make it even better. It's our commitment to you that we will continue to work towards being the best print-on-demand marketplace for independent artists around the world.

And as always, please keep your feedback coming!

That sounds simply fantastic - I can't wait to upload my first design using the new system AND that there will be a feed back button - fantastic!! Bravo Society6!
Patricia Shea Designs commented on Friday, September 16, 2016 5:55pm
"Please note: While we have both upload systems in place, please stick with one or the other to create or edit posts." - does this mean we have a choice to change over now?

It's great update!!

Mine's just changed so my last question is void :)
Rory Wood commented on Friday, September 16, 2016 6:30pm
@Patricia Shea Designs - there is a link on the first page of the new uploader that allows you to click over to the classic version. This is temporary while we make sure we've got everything dialed in on the new system. Thousands of people tend to be better at getting into all the nooks and crannies than a few dozen are!
Fuzzyfox commented on Friday, September 16, 2016 6:46pm
It's impossible for me to upload work of px 6500 , since I have a database where almost all of my work 4000 * 4000 PX ( 300 dpi) or 3500 , as I have a few years to draw in this format, JPG for photostocks . If the work seamless we were 6,500 to do ... but it changes sometimes the sample is not suitable for pictures ....When trying to download on a classic , writes : our latest products and features are only available through our new art-Downloader. Don't miss out and go to the updated experience.

Can't wait! I'm a licensed artist with a homewares company, and they use this format. Upload 1 image only, and their software does the rest, plus you can tweak it to suit the product better, if you like. Way to go, S6!

Wonderful news! The weird struggle with uploading things (and having SO MANY VERSIONS of the same art) was definitely a nuisance I wasn't used to when I uploaded my first piece. So glad to see that in the coming week, when I upload some new designs, things will be WAY easier. Keep up the brilliant work guys!

*Such* a good update! I am honestly so impressed and happy with all the new features, esp. the one-page-for-all-products, without the annoying back-and-forth to re-seize and re-upload everything.

It's funny, but this is the first-ever website/tech update that I (and judging by the comments, everyone else too) just embrace from the start, without a grumble, but happily.

how can I put the margin profit I want for the art prints, as in the old way when uploading a file, in the new system?
I uploaded in the new system. Then tried to edit in the usual way, but my file is not there.
Will we be able to still put our own margins for art prints?

I love the path is taking, bravo for making it simpler :D

Rory Wood commented on Friday, September 16, 2016 9:20pm
To those experiencing issues with the uploader, we've got engineers actively investigating the issue. Please give them some time to work through the kinks. We'll report back when we believe the issue to be resolved!

An area we need to improve is highlighting when images may be restricted, such as being too small or too large. If the file is over 75mb it will not be applied.

Please standby as we work through the issue and thanks for your patience!
Rory Wood commented on Friday, September 16, 2016 9:22pm
@Catru - You just need to click the Edit option on the Wall Art category in the management window. You can watch the walkthrough here: https://youtu.be/26HI_XetuqA?t=9m22s

Currently, you'll need to manage each product individually, but there are plans to improve the process to reduce the amount of time it takes to manage royalties.

Thanks for the prompt response Rory!
Seldom Scene Photography commented on Friday, September 16, 2016 10:15pm
@Rory - I'm on an iMac (MacOS 10.11.6), and the new uploader works on Firefox, but not on Safari. Also, once a photo is uploaded in Firefox, typing anything in the various fields (title, keywords, etc.) is very slow -- about 1/2 second latency after each keystroke.

What if we have 2 different files for certain products? Like for t-shirts, I usually edit my artwork to fade into the shirt so it doesn't look like a box, while for the rest of the products I upload the original artwork. Is it possible to upload 2 different files for 1 artwork or will we be forced to create t-shirts with the original and have it look crappy and squared?

Why didn't you guys make a "center" button. I noticed in the video that Ben has to move the artwork around to place where he wants it. A "center" button would be much easier.

Thanks for the technical informations, dear Society6 Team, I'm waiting for the new upload system and I try to use it as soon is possible.
LebensART commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 1:05am
To upload only one image sounds great, but I think it only makes sense for pattern like designs. And even then I would not use the same size of pattern for a mobile case and for a duvet cover. Will there be a tiling feature? Because, for seamless pattern that would be a great help: if one could uplaod the master tile and the system would allow a tiling to fit on certain products. By the way, for me it makes no sense, not to create certain products, I want them all. Allways. And I create every image for each product if neccessary, like when I have some typography on it. Anything else makes no sense when you have products with a different ratio.

Sounds all quite good but I would be worried a little bit about the overall quality of the designs. Like, if some people who do not care or do not know only upload one image for all products and, as long as it is not just a pattern or so, it will appear ugly cropped on the products. So a lot of bad products will show up and that won't be very attractive for the customers.

Wow, can't wait to get in there! This is a wonderful gift to wake up to on Saturday morning. Thank you Society 6! I can already see one quick request, which would be to set a default for art print commissions so that we only have to go in and change them if we want it different from our default. I'll send that through the feedback channel too!
LebensART commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 3:41am
I agree with Antique Images, default settings would be great for commissions but as well for selecting the products that you want to sell - something like select all or select none and that should be on default. I think many people do create all and it is a bit boring, when you have to klick on each one every time.
Antique Images commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 3:58am
It's not working in Firefox. I plunged right in, and same problem as Louisa Catherine above. I've got the image uploaded, but there is no button to go to next page. I tried hitting enter - nothing. I tried clicking on the circle at the top that says "enter info" - nothing. However I just managed to get it going in Chrome.

Just did my first upload, was going ok, can see the 3 prints, but missing the other products in my manage list ..., from the technical way you save some time for further products, and you can see directly the process how it looks on the products, I like that ... for now I don't find the new products on my profile shop .. maybe it's take time, because of the new upload technic ?

Happy to see this new greatly improved upload process. Have just checked the video, however, and see that the new process doesn't automatically do tiled designs for products where that's suitable including products needing files over 6500 which still have to be uploaded separately. Hopefully you are still working on this.
Antique Images commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 7:08am
Again, thank you once again for this vast improvement. I've been sending in feedback as you requested (so don't take it the wrong way - I am absolutely delighted and grateful to have this update). A few other notes - Many of the product displays are extremely slow to load. Hopefully just a launch glitch because waiting this long almost takes away the advantage of this great adjustment. Also, the new products I posted around 5 hours ago are still not in my store or under "my posts" in "my society." It would also be great if the resize option worked for the art prints as well as other products. Second the requests for a centering tool, and a tiling capacity. But over all, thank you for all the work on this.

She's That Wallflower commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 8:08am
Thank you guys for this update, it's great to not have to make so many files.

I am not sure about others, however I think it would be handy if we could edit/update groups of files at once with an "update all" button. For example, the base image that I upload is not the same dimensions that I use for the art print products. The base image works the best for all the other types of products though. So using the new uploader I then have to update my art print file for 4 out of the 5 art print products taking quite a lot of time doing them one by one, let alone any other files that need updating due to not just being able to just rotate a design.

To help save time, too it would also be helpful for all products to be on the same page, rather than in separate tabs and then pages. If they are all on the same page, then we can update more files at the same time, while adjusting the scale of others, rather than only being able to do one thing at a time. It took me a very very long time having to go into each product separately to adjust the scale, which I do a lot to make each product look its best, rather than being able to multi-task. The product preview is also way too small for some products.

I definitely second the need for a centering and tiling tool. As well as the ability to set default profits for the art prints.

Thank you again, it really is so good to now be able to edit products separately, especially after having things like duvet covers and tote bags using the same files, making it hard to create the desired scale for different products.

And the difference between the two ways, in regards of meta data.
How much does our older pieces suffer from not having the extra data that the new artworks will have?
Tags, for example.
10 allowed in the new uploader, while "unlimited" in the old version.
Are we supposed to move to the new one, and update all our existing ones to the new format?
Rory Wood commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 8:42am
We're still investigating delays with new uploads appearing in your shop but one workaround is after you Publish your new post, with all desired product edits, is to head over to your new Art Management system where you can re-access edit mode, unpublish or access individual products directly.

At a minimum you will be able to grab links. The issue is not that products aren't available relatively immediately, simply that there is a delay in them showing up in your shop.

But please let us know if this is not the case, while we investigate the shop delay.
Rory Wood commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 8:44am
The new Art Manager can be found in the drop down menu in the navigation for your account. Or you can use the direct link here: https://society6.com/studio/art/manage
Rory Wood commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 8:46am
@Fuzzyfox - The 6500px is just guidance to ensure you're enabling most products with one file. This is no different than the classic uploader. If you upload something smaller, you will still be eligible for a few products, but won't load up on some of the larger home goods like Tapestries or Duvet Covers. The same dimension requirements exist from the old system, for optimal printing and preview quality. You can find those specs here, though we'll add that guidance in time to individual product edit views.

@HappyMelvin - You won't necessarily need to tag old work in the new system, though there would be some immediate benefits. One update we intend to make would be making our best guess at which context from the old description, should be moved from the new description into the new tag fields.

The new tag fields will inform new functions we build, and contribute to the old functions we have, but we are not diminishing the data from the old system. Over time we do want to ensure these are isolated fields for different value, but we're intensely focused on not impacting customer site experience as it functions currently. Solely building on it moving forward.

We'll be release more detailed information and guidance on the new tagging system soon, but in the meantime new uploads are what you should be concerned with. Though I'm sure plenty are also configuring their top selling designs.

Another feature that will support optimizing old work will be a bulk-edit function we're still working through. It's a larger project but something we know will really make the new Artist Studio even more powerful.

Love it all, but just minor suggestions:
Would be great to have centering lines or centering button in uploader. Also for apparel would be great if png trancparency is visible for placing design correctly (i have lots of only white line-art, it's a bit tricky to see white on white).
**Also i would love to have option to choose default color for apparel, which will then be always shown in product preview (other colors will be optional and shown only if clicked on specific color button)

I can t see any button for sharing automatically link to Facebook etc like in the old uploader. The tags input field is too small for 10 tags it then goes outside the box.
Also in future it would be nice with a center button horizontally and vertically while editing.

Update: Artist shops should now be up to date. We had an issue causing those updates to get backed up.

We are investigating the issue of not being able to move from step 1 to step 2 that some users are seeing. It's a weird one.

Keep the feedback coming! We are tracking the requests, a good number of them are already on our own roadmap.

Hi....not sure if someone has flagged the following problems already but here we go
1. My items uploaded using the new version only show up sometimes and never in my society feed so no-one can like or comment. 2. The artwork I uploaded today using the original uploader is not showing up properly in the preview images. I realise this is probably due to you updating templates in your CMS but thought I'd put it out there.
Wendy Townrow commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 10:23pm
Hello Matt,
1st issue I had was the delay in population of typing fields which is very disconcerting.
2nd issue, I uploaded some time ago now and the posting appears in my Products pages but nothing appears in "My Society", "My Posts", even after I commented on my own posting.
Kellas Campbell commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 11:29pm
Like Cafe Pretzel, when I add new artworks to a collection, the thumbnails are of someone else's artwork.
Kellas Campbell commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 11:29pm
But, all in all, this change is fantastic!!
Wendy Townrow commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 11:35pm
Drag and drop into the upload window ... a pattern showing uploads appears with a faded view of the design behind showing that uploading is happening. There is no progress bar so you dont know what progress is being made. This window does not give a warning that 75MB is the maximum you can do!
It then seems to finish and becomes a clear image
It seems to be stalled as the next step button is not visible
Refreshed page ... uploaded by browsing the link from my computer
The dialled clock appears again with the faded image behind
This then came up with a button that said go to next step
You then put in your title, tags and stuff. When I do this there is a definite delay between typing and the information appearing.
The 10 tags have to be entered separately as the system does not seem to recognise a comma separated value (silly system!)
Click on the bit that says you have the right to the image!
Continue to create products
Mouse over Art print and when it says Edit, clickon it, input your profit margin here ... (dont forget, it was a bugga to find it afterwards)
Even an image of 7500 by 7500 was not enough for leggings, it had to be 9000 high by 7500 wide, so these have to be a separate product.
Towels are now only in horizontal mode so if ypou want it the other way you will need to make that one sparately too.
Publish when done.
The only way to get to see what the buying public see from what I can tell is to View store front. There does not seem to be an easy way of getting to the post you just made for promoting on social media. This then takes you to your front page, where you then go to Art Prints, then you have to change to New Settings and then you can find your new post .... what a waste of my time!!!!
The old way wastime consuming but
a) 1 set of profit margins was all that was needed.
b) uploading the images made sure they were on the products, no upload and the prodfucts would not show anyway
c) finishing the upload I could go straight to my post and do my social media promotions
d) images would appear on "my society", "my posts" page

This new method is even more time consuming than the old way.
now:
a) the delay in typing makes it hard to input information in a timely manner
b) tags having to be typed one at a time also is clunky and not efficient
c) having to set profit margins on several products is also not efficient
d) having to click through several pages to get to my most recent post is just painful
e) the images not appearing in the My Society area is just not friendly!
Wendy Townrow commented on Saturday, September 17, 2016 11:40pm
I also have someone else work appear as the thumbnail in my collections instead of the work I have uploaded.

Also when trying to manage the artwork there is no way easily getting to the last page or any other page of your gallery .... in fact it does not even tell you how many pages you have!

I noticed after using the new uploader that I wasn't getting any likes. So I uploaded the exact same art using the new uploader and got likes almost immediately. I kept them both up as a public interest experiment.

Art isn't being shown on the wider site after uploading through the new system.

Makes it seem like there's some kind of new filter being applied to art discovery through the new system, or that it's not properly integrated with the rest of the site somehow. Major issue. Check it out for yourself at society6.com/spires

Antique Images commented on Sunday, September 18, 2016 1:10am
After successfully publishing three sets of products, I now CANNOT PUBLISH my fourth set. After editing the set, I push the publish button and nothing happens. I tried it yesterday and again this morning.

The PUBLISH BUTTON is UNRESPONSIVE. (caps not intended as a shout - just for ease of scan reading by the tech folks who must be scrambling with all of this!)

Also, as mentioned by Sprires above, one day later, my new published products from yesterday have not appeared in the wider site, and DO NOT SHOW UP IN MY SOCIETY. They therefore have zero likes.

This system could be a great system and big improvement, but right now there are a ton of bugs! Hopefully they will get worked out soon. All comments above meant as hopefully helpful!
Antique Images commented on Sunday, September 18, 2016 1:18am
CORRECTION to the above. I just discovered that the reason my fourth set would not publish is that I did not have a title on the set.

I think I missed it because the separate positioning of the title field across the top on the product info page makes it easy to miss. Suggest either putting a back ground color behind the title to make it stand up, or perhaps simply aligning it with all the other fields.

Also, eventually a pop up box telling us what's missing would be great if we try to publish and it doesn't work. (i.e. a pop up that says - Please provide a title for your art work - or even - Please ensure that all fields are complete - if that or another field is accidentlaly left empty)

Another thing, I noticed when I had to choose the prices, that the size of the print on my post were much bigger than the size I see on your pricing structure with a maximum of 24x36". I had dimensions like 40x60 on my post... Thanks for your answer.

Will be awhile before I can play with this with my Dad in the hospital, but I'm thrilled just at the chance to disable products that were previously enabled either by default or when other products were enabled. Adjusting individual royalties is great, too, but I agree there needs to be a way to set a default and make changes in bulk in the future. I wasn't that bothered by creating individual uploads because I have more control over appearance but for ones that are easy to place on different products without modification, that will help, too. Hope I get to try it before too long - maybe then all the bug testers above will have found the big issues. ;-)

Thanks for the updates!

I am brand new to Society6! Its a great time to launch my shop because the new system is more user friendly however NONE of my new products loaded on the new system are showing up in shops. This makes it hard to promote my products if folks can't find them easily.

I have to direct folks with direct links or tell them to click on Art Prints. Once you click on the individual prints you can see the other products the image is available in, sometimes.

I hope this is fixed soon
Lena Photo Art commented on Sunday, September 18, 2016 7:52am
Great work guys from S6! I am going to repeat an issue which was pointed by many and obviously it will be addressed and fixed. I uploaded 3 images, fantastic uploader and editor, however they are not showing in My Society, and nobody sees them either (no comments, kuddos etc.). They are in my shop on the last page, while with the old uploader the newly uploaded images were showing always on the first page.
The new uploader is great for pattern designs (my favorites!), especially for seamless patterns but it would be nicer if there is a tiling feature. Some of the products would be looking better with tiled patterns and it would be easier to create and upload images too.
Also,
when I type descriptions and keywords the editor is kinda slow, some letters don't show and the final words are with missing letters. I have to type really slow for the letters to stick and to show in the words.

All in all, job well done! Thank you!

Jan4insight commented on Sunday, September 18, 2016 9:16am
I tried the new uploader for the first time, and ... I'm going back to the old system until some things get worked out. My input (S6, please take note!):

- Obvious bug is that I uploaded an image in vertical/portrait format. It fit the requirements for the metal print & the rug, but those products kept showing up in my store in a horizontal/landscape format. The result looked distorted and weird, so I had to disable them.

- While I like that the card is separated from the phone cases in the new uploader, it also requires me to upload a phone-formatted image 3 times for 3 different product types. I'd rather just upload it once for all phone cases. Same issue with the laptop sleeve, skins, pouches, and other landscape-format products.

- 250 characters is just not enough to describe my designs!

- I'd really like if you'd include Mixed Media as a art type category. As it is now, I'd have to call my mixed media pieces "other" and I don't like that :(

- I agree with Lena Photo Art about having a tiling function. Also, being able to fill in a background color would give us more flexibility with using one image for various proudcts. Ie, we use the same transparent PNG on phones, laptops, etc. Just adjust the size for the product and fill in a coordinating background color.

Okay, guys - back to the drawing board! lol
Tina Crespo commented on Sunday, September 18, 2016 10:46am
I like the direction this is going - and holy cow this must have been a huge undertaking! A few things:

1. I don't like not knowing exact dimensions for products. Redbubble uses this upload and scale feature, and it's not my favorite. Actually, I kind of hate it and think Society6 is way above just scaling artwork. Call me a control freak, but using exact dimensions for each product gives us more freedom than scaling an image and having no idea exactly what it comes out to be.

2. Type categories are extremely limited - especially for photographers. Plus the example "types" shown aren't even available for us to choose. How is typography not available, but double exposure is? Instead of a drop down menu, adding individual types ourselves (or choosing from a much larger and thought out selection) seems more appropriate and inline with the "artist has more control" progression of the upload process.

As an artist who has been with you guys for over 5 years, I am extremely excited to see some change in the upload process, but I do hope our opinions on what we need are taken seriously.

Hello Rory / Matt, I uploaded a first design using the new templates, which is wonderful. I want to make some changes and edit that work but it doesn't let me go back to the new system. When clicking on the print (which is one of the only product that shows in the shop), I go to 'Edit' and whilst it clearly states that I need to use the new system, if I select it, it sends me to a new template (an empty one - not with the work already uploaded) but I cant seem to be able to edit the work uploaded. Great that 1 artwork (almost) can be used for all products but...

1. Commas and semi colons have to be recognised for keywords. Having to input one by one is medieval.
2. I typed a keyword and a message appeared saying it was already in use (it wasn't in keywords).
3. You should be able to rotate artwork on individual product pages (no second upload).
4. Vertical and horizontal guides would be useful when resizing images.
5. There's no 'save' or 'finish' button to finalise edits.
6. Where do I set prices? Can't find that anywhere!
7. Where can I set bulk prices for all or selected images/products?
8. If I want to edit an image uploded the old way what happens to all the previous descriptions and keywords as there seems no way to update the old uploader input to work with the new?

Good upgrade but needs some work.

I imagine S6 folks are working very hard to fix the update bugs, but just to say the only main issue is my new uploads not appearing in my posts section.

Love the new uploading system, it makes things so much easier!
Sylvia Cook Photography commented on Monday, September 19, 2016 11:22am
Some features are nice, but I don't see it as all too time saving. I will still have to make various sizes and crops. I agree with Steve Bell, rotation of images should be an option. Save button also. I also wasn't allowed to add "typography" as a keyword and got a message it was already in use when it wasn't.
I went through the whole process, uploaded, edited, turned on products that I wanted, and the PUBLISH BUTTON DOES NOT WORK!! Argh! Now what?
Sylvia Cook Photography commented on Monday, September 19, 2016 11:29am
OK, my bad! Publish wouldn't work because I hadn't put the title up. So now it appears to be published but not showing up in the lineup of "latest artwork".
Plus, I generally use Chrome, but went to Firefox to see if I could publish, and when I go to "manage my posts" in Firefox, nothing shows up to manage. Page is blank of any previous artwork.

I'm using Safari with IOS 10 on a MacBook Pro. Previously, i made 10 customized files and uploaded them easily and quickly. Now it is taking me 4 hours or more to load all the stuff as opposed to 15 minutes on the old system. This is horrid so far. Also, my new work does not show up in My Posts and no one is able to "like" it. And when I add a piece to a collection, it shows someone elses artwork. Also on the old system i could load multiple product files at once after the original work was loaded. This is one at a time. Needs a lot of improvement.

BACK AGAIN -- After reporting that my post didn't show, I browsed some more and tried looking at the LAST page rather than the "latest" page. The post is there, at the end, though still with zero promos, so there is still a problem with publishing from the new system.

Hi All - Here area few updates on the issues we are tracking.

1. New artists shops not displaying products: This was resolved late Sunday for most users but a few users are still experiencing the issue. Continuing to work on that.

2. My society not showing posts: We believe we know the issue and work is underway to correct it.

3. Collections displaying incorrect artwork: We believe we know the issue and work is underway to correct it.

4. Not able to proceed from step 1 to step 2: This appears to be an issue with your browser session expiring. As a temporary workaround, you should be able to quit your browser and re-open then it should work correctly. We are working on a permanent fix.

Hopefully it gets sorted, I'm way too lazy to go through the process again:)

All feedback you can provide is a great help to our developers to investigate and correct these issues.

This ensures we are able to offer the most streamlined upload experience.

Please use the feedback tool in the bottom right corner of the upload page and report these errors.

Thanks again for letting us know.

To be honest this reply leaves a lot to be desired as well! In fact I found it almost insulting because Brittany either did not read my communication, did not read it correctly, did not understand it OR just dismissed me as a whinger ....
I HAVE watched the video (several times), it does NOT address my concerns, my work is still NOT visible in My Society. None of my questions were answered.
The FEEDBACK button is only available in the upload editing pages not elsewhere.

Mark if you are reading this please get the email from Brittany, I am more than happy to work with you on resolving this from a content suppliers point of view.

Did not add extra images
Skip This Step - takes me to https://society6.com/prints" target="_blank">https://society6.com/prints not my product

If I then go to "My Society", "My Posts" the product is there!
If I go to "Manage Artwork" nothing shows up at all .. so I cant do anything with it.

maybe it would be a good idea if user just stop testing it again and again, as long as it is obvious that it does not work. Might save the system from running hot. Also it is not too helpfull if 100 people write comments like "yes, same problem here" Meanwhile everybody should know that it is not working and probably Society6 staff is trying hard to solve the problem. I am sure they will let us know when it is fixed and then it is time to test it and upload new work.

This new uploader is so cool - it makes life so much easier! With the old one, I had to make sure I planned my day with enough time to customize my illustrations for the different templates and sizes (which took a long time). But with this one I just have to create the initial illustration and that's it! Thank you Society6! :)

EricTecce commented on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 8:52am
Experiencing even more issues. I like the concept of the new uploader, but it needs some sort of Beta testing to get all the bugs out. Just spent an hour using it & uploading new art only to having most of the effort either not show up, no changes displaying, or an inverted display of the artwork uploaded.

I don't like having to wait to upload each four different versions of apparel, we used to just upload one for the t-shirts, hoodies, biker tees, etc. The old uploader allowed us to upload multiple product images at once and the tagging system was easier. I will go back to the old way while you guys work out the bugs. It drives us artists crazy when we put our hearts into a new piece and then it's not being seen in the my society feed. But I love you S6, and I know you will work it out for us. Thank you for all you do 😀

LebensART commented on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 12:12pm

Matt Maggard commented on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 12:24pm
All - thanks for your continued patience. There is a big difference from our beta test with a couple hundred artists to having the system running for our entire artist base. We are certainly seeing issues that did not crop up during the beta. Getting more usage of the new Artist Studio is helping us find where things are bumpy for some users. We will be continue to refine the system so we have the best uploader in the game!
Mellowcat commented on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 1:26pm
I tried uploading a new design on Sunday (Evening Star Mandala) using the new Artist Studio. After I finished uploading and enabling all the products, the main image never showed up in my "My Posts," feed. The title was there, but instead of the image, just a gray box with a broken link icon appeared. I waited a couple of hours hoping the problem would resolve by itself, but it didn't, so I finally deleted the post. I noticed today that there were several works by other artists in my "following" and "discover" feeds with the same problem, so I think there's a bug somewhere. Today I used the old uploader to upload the same design with no problems. I think the new Artist Studio has a lot of great features and will be a great improvement once the bugs are out. While you are making improvements, I would also appreciate some sort of marking on the outside of the product image boxes that would make it easier to center designs on the products, especially since we can now increase and decrease the magnification of the file. Perhaps just a tick mark at the halfway point on each side of the box for the artist to use as a reference. It's difficult to "eyeball" the centering on a complex design like Evening Star Mandala, and it looks like a total disaster if it's off center. Clearer instructi0ns for file size requirements for individual products would also be helpful if we choose to go that route. Also, should the design fill the entire gray box in order to print correctly, or does it just have to fill the dotted outline for the individual product? And finally, if you are adding/fixing features, a tiling feature that would allow us to put smaller designs into repeat in order to fill a large product like a duvet cover would be very helpful. Thanks again for all your hard work on this new Artist Studio. I'm looking forward to using it in the future.

Hi. I'm relatively new to S6, so I barely had time to get used to the old system. Although the new uploader looks promising, it doesn't work for me. I have already sent in a bug report with images showing what the problems are, which are basically the same as as what everyone here so far has reported. I have either deleted or Unpublished the items that were uploaded using the new uploader. Thank you for the update and for working to address the issues. Best regards.

It's a nice interface, though it did take me longer to upload files than with the old uploader system and there's more of a delay from uploading to the design appearing in 'my posts' feed. Also the setting the price of art prints is more onerus, where as I used to be able to just type in the total price, now I have to click numerous times to get to the price I want. I'll be watching to see how it develops further.

Silvio Ledbetter commented on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 9:43pm
Seems like a good thing but so far, not a fan. I've been trying to upload for the last 2 or 3 days and so far it hasn't worked once. I'm also not real happy about the new pricing feature I've been hearing about where you have to click and click and click to set the price.... I've not made it there so far to see for myself though. Seems like a needless update to a feature that worked fine. Hope you guys get the bugs worked out soon.
Leandro commented on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 10:18pm
Worked fine for doing the uploads and configuring to all the different products. The pricing feature is a bit more time consuming and seems like it could be streamlined better. Biggest problem for me, and many others, is nothing is showing up in my feed after I upload and publish. I can see them via the Manage My Posts option, and click on the preview image to look at them. Even unpublished then published again, they do not appear in my feed or on the S6 app. Which, by the way, the app needs some work, things not syncing between website and app (comments, notifications, faves, etc). Overall, I do like where its going and being able to setup more items with the less uploads. Do hope you get the issues fixed soon though.

Wow, I love what you've done here @Society6! :) Before I used to upload more to my other online POD shops as uploading here was a pain in comparision! Now I will be uploading here more frequently because it's a lot easier! :)
The only problem is, I can't see my newest uploads in my shop. I made the products about 24 hours ago. It feels discouraging that I've had no favourites yet as I usually would have had several by now under the old system and I think it's because no one else can see my work in my shop :( Also, I used to get an email saying that my work had been accepted into the society6 shop. Is that still "a thing"? Or does work get vetted before it appears at all?

Patrick Durston commented on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 3:36am
I’ve finally managed to upload artwork with a new browser. There are clearly browser compatibility issues that need to be looked at; Chrome is the only one that worked. As far as the new uploading systems concerned, it's brilliant. The only downside is I have the same problem as Dreaming and Mareike: nobody is promoting my new artwork, which tells me nobody that can find it. It's been up for four hours; normally I would get a few likes by now, maybe an odd comment or two, but no, nothing. I'm worried the longer these bugs remain, the quicker our artwork will fade into obsolescence. Additionally, already existing work edited through the new system is relegated right to the back. This is not good for exposure.

Although I haven't made any sales of yet on this site, I've really enjoyed promoting other people's artwork and interacting with artists. It's made my time on here worth it, it helps that this community is very welcoming towards others. You do a cracking job of looking after this site, despite teething problems, I'm still very grateful that I have a place like this to use. At least you’re willing to adapt and listen to your members concerns, which can’t be said for places I’ve joined in the past. You’re the best that’s around!

It's not only Chrome Patrick, Firefox works too for me (latest version, turned of all plugins for society6, like ad-blockers, etc. cleared cache, all cookies)

For me it's - uploader - working, small bugs like not generating previews correctly, sometime there is blank item (but I can move image and it changes it's place on small previews) also horizontal/vertical orientation is messing a bit.

- buttons - they show, and work is saved properly

- work IS available (just not as "recently added" - check new in art prints or so)

- no luck in my society, works are not showing

- no hearts, comments

- work do show in search but tagging is baaaaad ;)

Question for Matt regarding the issues with My Society: Once you get this fixed, will you be retroactively pushing the designs we have uploaded out through my society? There has been no all important peer reaction to what I've added since they never showed up there. If the appearance in My Society won't be retroactive, then I guess we'll want to delete and reupload the items we pushed out on the first day of release of this new platform. Please let us know what your advice is on that!

Besides, it won´t show the new posts/arts... and now the old system doesn´t work animore. Just a red baloon written 500 in it appears.
:(

As someone said before here: If it aint broke....
VioletSuger commented on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 10:47am
I have that ghost art problem as Kirby said too.
And I noticed if you upload your art by old system and try to add products by new system (you can do it in manage my posts) those products will show up a while then disappear.
Ralph S. Carlson commented on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 11:13am
During this period of turmoil with uploads and the effects of moving between uploaders and managing files with two different system, are S6 users continuing to get some sales on products uploaded before the new uploader came active?
UMe Images commented on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 11:20am
My post only show up when I upload it on the classic, then I could add more products with the new system.
Matt Maggard commented on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 11:26am
@Antique Images and @Dominique Vari - Our My Society fix is nearly completed and should go out soon which will push new posts into My Society. We are also planning to process posts since the Artist Studio launched to add those into My Society as well.

Also, artist shop product-specific listing pages should all be up to date but we know the shop main pages do not yet reflect new uploads. Work is underway to resolve that.

Short answer - no need to re-upload anything. Posts should make their way into all parts of the site soon. Thanks!

OMFG! I noticed my old images products are displaying all skewed. I took a screen shot and got a copy paste watch the video reply. It pissed me off...I can't get the new uploader to work...that's FINE! The products in my store are messed up and I'm wondering if they are going to fix the data display issue at all or shall I shut down here and focus on my Zazzle...Christmas is coming and I'd like to make a little money...sigh...

Hi All - My Society should now display all new posts going forward. Let me know if you see any issues.

We are still working on the backfill for posts that did not make it into My Society. Trying to get that done today but I will provide an update when it is done.
Matt Maggard commented on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 3:12pm
@IowaShots - Let me look into your account. During our transition from classic to artist studio, some of the positioning data was temporarily disrupted. There is no need to make adjustments on your end, We may need to trigger a refresh of your product previews on our end. It should only be listing pages that have this issue, product pages should still be correct. Stay tuned!

Most of my products showing are skewed and not placed properly, but when I click on them individually, they look fine. Hope it's just a temporary glitch.
IowaShots commented on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 3:25pm
@Matt Maggard...thank you for addressing my concern. The lovely guy I emailed earlier sent me the copy paste response to watch the video. It made me rather mad. It had nothing to do with my problem. I have over 58 pages of work and to be honest I'd shut down my account rather than rework the whole portfolio. I'd be afraid it would reoccur...I know Customer service must be swamped but Christmas is coming and to be pawned off with a watch the video was galling. If I can't can't sell anything you guys aren't making money either.
Frankie Cat commented on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 3:56pm
The customers are going to see the skewed items and most likely won't bother clicking on them. Definitely a sale breaker. I hope these glitches get taken care of soon.

Thank you for working so hard to make this awesome! I am excited for these changes!

HMmmm...browsed My Society and saw a lot of recent posts with notice of publication citing plausible times -- three minutes, one hour ago, four days ago -- and likes were showing for them, but there were a few grey blanks, some of which faded to a photo when the cursor moved onto them and displayed times such as "Posted 46 years ago" ...so I guess the hard work is ongoing, since we wouldn't have postings that predate the internet. :)
Michael John Spitaletto commented on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 5:29pm
I found the video very helpful, now I need to try it out. I had questions earlier about images uploading but it seems the new uploader was being configured so that's what was causing upload issues the past few days. I'm going to try the new uploader, get familiar with it or try to...The flexibility offered in the new features are great. I'm sure many others who've been on the site longer may have wished they were available sooner as well...it takes me a while to get used to new things regarding computers but I'm gonna try it out, maybe once I get used to it, it will be as familiar to me as the previous system...iHope.
My current concern which was addressed in the video was about uploading and editing images previously uploaded and how to adjust them with the new uploader system. Basically...will I have to re-enter a new 'key image' of a previously uploaded and published item in order to take advantage of the editing options in the new uploader and enter all new information for it (key words, descriptions, genres)? I only ask that because my computer is not currently allowing me to use the previous uploading system. So I'm going to check out the new system now.

My new Leggings list displays broken images, I've edited and reuploaded the image via the Edit button in the leggings in order to refresh it but it doesn't work: https://society6.com/yiomultimedia/le...s?show=new
I live in Argentina but a friend of mine that lives near New York see the same problem. When I click the broken image so I enter that item's page the leggings look fine in all views.
When I enter the "all over print shirt" with the same image, the legging's thumbnail is also missing in the "Also Available As" section below, just the leggings are missing!
Danielle Gensler commented on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 10:49pm
This is definitely going to take some getting used to. It isn't terribly difficult, but it is so different from the old format. Going individually through each item is more time consuming. But it also enhances the final product.

I create an account 2 days ago, loaded about 7 pieces and nothing is showing. They are there but are very difficult to find. When i click "view storefront" it just shows me either, work of other artists I have promoted, or a tab of a collection, from which all of the thumbnails are of some trippy rainbow graphic that is definitely not my work.

I tried removing them and re-uploading them in a different browser and still had the same results...

YES, the new uploader is not working. And YES, I am also not happy about it and I doubt that everything (plus the changes and additional features that we'd like to see in the new system) will be completely fixed soon. But there is nothing we can do at the moment! So why can not everybody just stay patient and let the Socitey6 staff do their work? Constantly uploading new images and then realising that it still is not working will probably NOT help. Also they for sure KNOW by now that it is not working, so posting this fact again and again is also not really pushing things forward.

Having a problem with the placement of images within the t-shirt merch section. It's zooming and cropping in a way that I didn't ask it to :(
Sarah Knight commented on Thursday, September 22, 2016 6:13am
I expected the experience of using the new uploader to be harrowing, since it's new. It's a lot like Zazzle, I suppose, which has had this tech for years.
A couple thoughts: holy shit, I published the listing and then was like "where the fuck was the page where I set the prices?" Work on that. Make it OBVIOUS.

I understand some people just upload t-shirt graphics, but why the hell did I just have to upload the same file 4 times? There needs to be a bypass for those of us that don't wanna recenter a background-free PNG as if a t-shirt is gonna be different than a tank top.

The greeting card and iphone case are finally split - good!

This didn't take me any less time than before, and I pretty much had to save all the same files I used before... while remembering that tapestry and throw blanket are the same dimensions). We're not all millenials who took 72dpi files on a camera at the largest file format. Some of us old folks scan things at a high resolution at size and then split the difference. Your system is incapable of acknowledging that.

I don't quite get the part where there are 5 categories. "Illustration" is an example, but if you type that into the box - well, you can't type that into the box and it's not a category choice. What the fuck? Mixed media is also no longer a medium? So, basically, did whoever chose this know they wouldn't major in that in college, so you removed it as an option for the rest of us? You know, like how all the featured art on the site is of a level at or below the personal style of the person curating it (yes, the skill level of your curators is painfully transparent).

Your tag feature doesn't recognize commas? Please call Etsy and ask them how they figured out how to do that 8 years ago.

And your description box gave my keyboard a complex, since I was forced to type at a remedial rate in order to have it recognize the characters I was typing.

I'd like to be nicer and happier, but when I realized that I published a listing without putting in the price adjustment I almost swallowed my tongue, and then swore - A LOT.
Bwiselizzy commented on Thursday, September 22, 2016 7:29am

Hi Leigh,

I'm really sorry about that. Unfortunately, the alignment issues on your throw pillows is something that cannot be fixed very quickly on the development side. Mainly because there is not a centering option available in this incarnation of the uploader.

I'm really sorry but you will have to in and adjust these designs in order for them to print properly when they're ordered.

I know it's a bummer and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,

Let me ask you this...I went in today to look at my work. I looked at the pillows. Some were skewed. I click on the big view of a skewed product. The pillow showed up fine on the big view but a lot of the same images products appear skewed now...will this issue continue? I know that you guys are trying to implement a huge change across the site and I am willing to be patient. I have 58 pages of work with a lot of skewed images. I have a very good Zazzle and CafePress shop as well as my S6. I am leery of doing a major overhaul on S6...Yesterday different images were skewed. Will I overhaul several images one day only to find different images the next day? Need I remind you Christmas is coming quickly...I don't anticipate much of anything for Society 6 sales if this continues. Please let me know what to expect from the changes...It's beginning to look like a need to close my account and focus elsewhere. I don't want to leave...I enjoy the site.
Please let me know...
Thank you

It would be great if someone from Society 6 would confirm that they will inform us all by email when the system is working. It will be a great system once it is functional, but I just tried again and it is not. I'd rather not keep trying until I know we are good to go! My latest post was unbearably slow to prepare - I never did make the preview images work, just guessed at the sizes, and the artwork I posted does not show in mysociety.
Frankie Cat commented on Thursday, September 22, 2016 10:46am
@Leigh (IowaShots) My items are skewed also. About 50% of everything. cards, pillow, mugs, etc. How are we expected to go in and repair all of that? Would that even fix it? Everyday it's a new item that is skewed. I guess it is time to just sit back and wait for the bugs to be fixed. Hopefully that will happen. And soon.

@IowaShots - sorry for the confusion. Our customer service team is getting ramped up on the new feature along with our artists and they may not have all the right answers at hand at the moment. I'll update them on this specific issue.

As you noted, the actual product page preview is correct and it is just the product type listing page that is incorrect. I'm using your Snow Guy throw pillow as reference. It looks improperly cropped in the list but correct on the product page. This will definitely be resolved without you needing to update anything.

I had a older item get a recent comment and now it's at the top of my page. Same for the app. Can we have different settings for our My Society page? Chronological?
Dominique Vari commented on Thursday, September 22, 2016 2:04pm
Hello Matt - Thank you for your last update, which sounds positive! Following which... I confirm that my latest upload is not yet visible in my shop from mobile App. (I refreshed everything) and the number of artworks is not including that last upload.

I can see the latest upload on my shop when opening it from my I-mac, the image remains at the very bottom of the last page and some products seem to be missing.

It also appears on the top of the "Art Post" list today (it was at the very bottom yesterday) and all the posts there are not listed in a chronological order, which makes it a little confusing and difficult to find a specific image - I noticed that other artists are experiencing the same issues.

Thanks again for your efforts to get this fixed asap.

Honesty: The old system was time consuming but very reliable and that was something that I really loved about Soc6. I realize introducing such a monumental new upload system is not easy, but to be fair it's really turned me off and that disappoints me quite a lot. Introducing new UI can be done without this much utter frustration and annoyance. I know because I've worked on many projects where things were NEVER this ridiculous. Bugs are to be expected but these are not bugs they are system breakers. Many of us here have used the old system for a long time and we've taken a lot of extra time to create additional specs for artwork but was worth it because it gave us ways to expand our product lines. I would of done that forever to have not had to go through this perplexing upgrade. I agree with other posters, it would be really nice to know when the bugs are fixed because I know I've thrown at least 3-4 hours this week trying to work with your system, re-upload things multiple times and have a bevy of brain pain. I give up at this point. If I hear the system is fixed I may come back but this has aggravated me to the point of no longer wanting to use the service. Time will tell.
IowaShots commented on Thursday, September 22, 2016 3:05pm
@Matt Maggard...Phew! I was really worried about that after the Customer service email. All - We're happy to report that the My Society issues have been mostly resolved. New uploads in the new system are showing up as expected and we will be populating work that was previously uploaded, but not seen, so it has it's due chance to be seen and promoted by those that are interested. Thanks so much for your patience while we worked through that issue.

We still have a ways to go before we feel comfortable with the stability, but we're optimistic the issues that are causing frustration will be resolved in short order.

Once we're through those, we're looking forward to turning our attention to usability optimizations based on your feedback.

We totally understand these kinds of updates have the potential of being disruptive, and admittedly there were some glaring issues we unfortunately didn't catch before launch. But we truly appreciate the support and feedback, which has been critical in identifying and correcting the issues at large.

Big improvements on the way!

@Rory Wood I'm thinking of just deleting my work and re-uploading it. Should I do that, or is it best to wait until everything fully resolves itself? I do appreciate that you've been working hard to fix these issues and you've been taking on board our concerns.
Matt Maggard commented on Thursday, September 22, 2016 9:54pm
@Patrick Durston I'd recommend waiting just a bit longer. We have a large number of fixes going out Friday. Some of them may take the weekend to be reflected in all shops since changes we make to adjust previews or missing items need to process through millions of pieces of art and billions of SKUs to make sure everything is right. I wish it was instant but it just takes some time. I see your comment above that you are seeing issues with sort order. We have had some issues with publish and modify dates causing ordering to shift unexpectedly – that is one of the fixes that should start rolling out tomorrow.

Hi,
I've deleted some old posts with the new system and they are no longer showing in my “manage” page, but they are still showing in my storefront. When I click on the product image, it sends me back out to the main page (other artists’ products). Since I already deleted the posts, I don’t have the option to switch the individual products on or off. Is there any way to permanently remove these products so they no longer show in my storefront?

@Matt Maggard, thanks for all your answers, including the one that I missed before. I'm very happy to hear that uploaded items through the new system will be retroactively pushed through to MySociety as soon as this is fixed. Standing by before doing anymore, because if this system can just be made to work, and work with real time previews, it is going to be so much better than what we had before. Just a note that I could live with slighly smaller previews for the image placement, if that would help speed up load times.
brenda erickson commented on Friday, September 23, 2016 12:12pm
Commenting as someone who had the old upload system down cold, I find the new uploading to be extremely time consuming. In the old version, I could create the assets offline and upload each nearly simultaneously. Today, with the new version, I am watching somewhat impatiently as each image slowly appears. I tried to cheat and make it quicker by entering edit mode for a few of the items but each item must upload fully before I can move on. I have two more new works to upload, so I'll get myself a cup of coffee and try to amuse myself as the upload wheels spin.
brenda erickson commented on Friday, September 23, 2016 12:22pm
Just another item I noticed- if the art prints base cost is $12 for a mini prior to mark up, why does the old upload add another 4% when the new upload does not? If I use the same mark up, the old upload creates a higher price.
Chrisb Marquez commented on Friday, September 23, 2016 1:46pm
@Rory Wood - Promotion interactions from followers not working is lost! After published Artwork! Everything else is working perfectly till now!
LebensART commented on Friday, September 23, 2016 1:52pm
I agree with Brenda: to be able to uplaod all prepared assets at the same time is something I would really miss! So far, the new uploader will be less time consuming just for a few user: those who work with pattern or such and those who do not care how the design fits on the product. For all other, it will take much more time to use the new uplader, as long as certain features will not be adjusted.
Matt Maggard commented on Friday, September 23, 2016 3:14pm
@brenda erickson - We haven't really talked about this change much, but our old upload included a 4% transaction fee which is noted on the old upload page. We have changed this in the new upload to a more straightforward base cost + mark up = price. To keep our product prices consistent through this migration, we have rolled this 4% into the artist mark up. This gives you a small royalty increase on all art prints and framed prints at the same price to the customer. :)
Matt Maggard commented on Friday, September 23, 2016 3:21pm
@ brenda erickson & LebensART - we definitely hear you about the ability to bulk edit or bulk apply a custom asset. That is on the top of our roadmap and something we will be rolling out in the future.

One of the goals of the Artist Studio was to decrease the trial and error process of uploading a custom asset (t-shirt for example) then seeing the preview, then going back to Photoshop to refine size/position and trying again. We believe this will be a benefit for all artists thanks to realtime feedback without requiring external tools.

Matt Maggard commented on Friday, September 23, 2016 6:04pm
Hi All - I wanted to provide a quick update going into the weekend. We have rolled out a whole host of fixes that you'll see reflected in your shops over the weekend as we re-index our library. Here is the summary of changes:

FIXED:
1. Misaligned artwork on listing page previews
2. Broken images in artist shops
3. Posts from Artist Studio showing at the bottom of ‘new’ sorts
4. Deleted / Unpublished work still appearing
5. My Society / My Posts bad renders
6. My Society populating with new posts
7. Artist Shop layout for first time uploaders
8. Slow typing and various editor fixes

As I mentioned above, many of these fixes will update your shop as our re-index process runs throughout the weekend. We believe these are the major issues artists have been experiencing. We also know of an issue with art mark ups not 'sticking' and issues with collections which we will address early next week. Thanks again for your patience!

We are committed to making the Artist Studio and Society6 the best place to post, showcase and sell your artwork. Keep the feedback coming and we will continue working to make the system better!

@ Matt - I really appreciate your hard work and your patience will all the comments. But, you wrote, that one of the goals of the new uplader is "to decrease the trial and error process of uploading a custom asset" Sorry, but anybody who is taking this business serious will NOT go through a trial and error process when uploading new designs. One would create a template in phothoshop (or maybe illustrator) for each asset and use it every time when creating a new design. Assuming the sizes that you require for each product are correct, the design will fit perfectly on each product afterwards. This takes a bit time to prepare the assets, but hey: design and art and creating products is not all about finishing it quick. Of course we are all happy when we can safe time on boring stuff like the upload process and get more time for creating art. But do not take it, that with the old uplader, we alle have been "going back to Photoshop to refine size/position and trying again" all the time. At least I did not.

I edited one yesterday that was created with the new studio and it made a double post. So I now have two of the same image up and the old one didn't edit. Didn't know if you knew about this issue. For now, I am going to delete the new images created with the new post and wait until all of the dust settles...

It's really nice to be able to edit shirts separately now so that we can move the artwork up or down as needed, but it would have been awesome to be able to edit mens and womens tshirts separately too. It's like we have to choose which shirt to edit correctly because by default the artwork appears much higher on the mens shirt. If I want my womens shirt to look right, the mens shirt has to look ridiculous. Also re the clear phone cases, it seems that if you have a PNG uploaded for your shirt, it automatically enables the same PNG on the clear phone case and (at least in my case) that might not be the design you want . . . I have to go through each one and turn them off while I decide whether or not to create new ones for the cases.

I am overall extremely disappointed. This new uploader was obviously not tested out. I found it kinda cruel to just release something that is this flawed. i know you are fixing things but the amount of problems people are having is ridiculous. This is just poor planning and doesn't make me feel very confident in Society6 anymore. People should not have to wait a month in the hopes that everything would be fixed. We should not have to send you literal lists of what is going wrong. One or two things, ok, normal. This is unprofessional. This is the kinda stuff that should of been found in previous testing or something and then fixed. I love society6 and happy to be apart of it but now I'm greatly let down. I hope everything gets fixed and i can eventually upload with ease and TRUST Society6 again.

Well I got a new image to upload but it took 54 minutes over all and I can't see it so I hope it uploaded...we shall see if it ever appears. I titled it Sleepy...waiting on the uploader. This really needs to improve speed wise. I uploaded the same image in my RedBubble and total time invested by me including adjusting my products was 12 minutes...and I see my products and could share them on my social media. That image was just Sleepy(it's a cute shot of my kitten) ...I know this process has been rough on everyone but just a tought...If you ever do a major system upgrade here again you might want to wait to clobber us with it until after the holidays...My RedBubble, CafePress and Zazzle shops are starting to get holiday sales...I'm dead in the water here.

@Matt - Could I request to get my shop re-indexed? A lot of "also available as" images are not showing up and any changes to my existing works that I make with the Studio keep disappearing after a while. I am not going to upload any new works until this is sorted out, but would like to have my existing items show up correctly as holiday shopping is starting up . Thanks!
VioletSuger commented on Saturday, September 24, 2016 9:28am
I have the same problem as Olechka have since the very beginning. I thought it has been solved but I just noticed one of my product didn't be in "More from the artist" so I checked then they really disappeared again.
I can see them in "manage my posts" but they don't show up in my shop.

These changes don't happen from day to night, expect the bugs in order to refine the system, we know it takes a little time but any new bug you encounter its very welcome to report and ensure future resolutions, society6 developers, engineers are 24/7 in all our matters and concerns, they work hard as we should continue to do play hard the same, these things on Society6 are getting always, always getting better you know that, of course there is nothing on earth 100%perfect, remind the awesome community out there society6 has! Just on case @Rory Wood the NEW homepage of the Artworks of the artists, don't update the promotions on the page( at least my page), but if you click on the newest artwork page you will see the promotions already assumed, but on the New front page artworks seem not conected to, keep the good work! Hello Mat - Still no sign of my last upload from mobile App but the number of Aws is now correct so something must be happening there.

Otherwise, from any computer, I can see the design on the last page, which doesn't seem logical.

Thanks again for your effort. It will be so much better at the end (especially if we can upload several designs at the same time! :))

What a bloody disaster and just before the busiest time of year. My page is now full of half-uploaded images and blank squares. I loved being able to have slightly different artwork for the different items. I can't link my stuff to social media for fear that nothing will come up......what a mess.
Antique Images commented on Sunday, September 25, 2016 5:57am
I was excited to read @Lena Photo Art's post, and so just tried uploading a new image, but at least so far (1/2 hour later) it is still not appearing in My Society. Not one of my posts with the new tool has appeared there yet. They do show in my store, but are not getting any ratings or gaining any visibility in the marketplace.

Otherwise, overall the new design tool seems to be improving in performance. There are a few products that, at least for me, don't load at all in the design preview (the large towel, the biker tank top, and a few others). Previously, however, none of them loaded for me.

Also a note that if you accidentally upload a transparent .png in CMKY you get a bunch of weird black effects in your previews. I know we are supposed to use RGB (The CMKY was an oversight which I realized aftewards). But I thought I'd just note that here incase anyone else gets those strange black artifacts (I noticed them on the card and on a cell phone) and is wondering what they are from. Changing to RGB fixed it.
Okti commented on Sunday, September 25, 2016 6:06am
I tried it too after I read Lena Photo Art's post, it is already a lot better. The previews all loaded for me, it took a while before the post was visible in the my society but now it's there as well. It's not showing in my shop front yet but maybe it will soon, it's already a lot better anyway!! Yay!
Antique Images commented on Sunday, September 25, 2016 6:33am
@Okti. It is a lot better. However I really do want my items to make it into MySociety. My experience is the reverse of yours - the products show up in the shopfront right away, but aren't coming through to MySociety (I'm checking under My Posts). How long did it take before you saw yours in MySociety?

Also, I spoke to soon on the weird black areas not being an issue if you use RGB. I changed all my images to RGB, but the ipad in my most recent upload has smudgy black areas all over the image. Another glitch I'm sure @Matt et al are working on.
Okti commented on Sunday, September 25, 2016 7:00am
I think it took about 20 to 30 minutes.. there is also this society6.com/new URL where all the new works are listed, I noticed it wasn't visible there (when I used the old uploader yesterday my work was listed on this page).
Okti commented on Sunday, September 25, 2016 8:19am
I just noticed that the work I used the uploader for ('Afternoon Sun') is showing as some kind of standard image I have seen before when I view my collection (https://society6.com/wobins/collection/nature). I thought I'd mention it, but from now I will use the feedback button on the uploader. :)

I did a new upload today and after 48 minutes of spinning I'm still not sure if the leggings and all over print shirt worked. I have a big portfolio here and I'll just focus my new work on my other shops on Zazzle and RedBubble...I like the community aspect of S6...Zazzle isn't like that. I'll pop in here to promote my exhisting work and promote my friends but I haven't got the patience to sit for almost an hour to upload an image.
Olechka commented on Sunday, September 25, 2016 1:40pm
Question - how do we upload vertical rugs?
The new uploader automatically makes them all horizontal, and I even tried uploading a separate file with exact pixel ration...are we supposed to upload a rotated (sideways) template and have it preview that way?
UMe Images commented on Sunday, September 25, 2016 4:47pm
In order to make my products show up I have edit it and add it through the classic uploader. Went back to day and notice all my old stuff is not aligned properly. Fine Art America and Redbubble seem to have an easier and better system. If you guys could somehow mesh those 2 together you would have the best uploader.

After the initial excitement it seems the things are back to where they where 3 days ago. Last night I did upload one image with the new uploader and it showed up in My Society almost instantly. This is the image:
https://society6.com/product/fir-tree...647p4a1v45.
It got promoted and commented on by some of the fellow artists.
Then I uploaded one other image which never showed in My Society. Obviously it was visible to other people because it got promoted and commented to also. This image is still not in My Society and I am not sure how other people saw it.
20 minutes ago I uploaded a 3rd image with the new uploader and it is not yet in My Society. Obviously no one can see it either, no comments, no hearts. On some of the products the image is placed incorrectly and it doesn't cover the whole iPad for example.
The numbers of the promoters are not showing correctly on all the pages (for the same image). They have one number on My Society and they have a different number on my Storefront pages.
Sigh ... Will try the old uploader again.
Wendy Townrow commented on Monday, September 26, 2016 12:01am
1. Thumbnails are still not rendering correctly on old products both on edit pages and in the shop
2. In edit products if an image is not big enough it says upload ... you cant turn the button to "off" when it is like that.
3. If you edit one of the older products the thumbnail does not change to reflect the edit.
4. New uploads are not appearing in the My Society page as soon as they are uploaded as they did in the past
5. If an item has been commented on by me or someone else it still does not show up in the My Society page so comments are likely to be missed and not responded to. This defeats the purpose of those pages.
6. I still have had no answer to whether we need to upload png files for tees and leggings.
Freeminds commented on Monday, September 26, 2016 2:15am

I see so many s6 people successfully upload (sometimes) several items a day, yet my one post from almost a week ago is still not showing anywhere and hanging there with '0' promotions. I am not sure what to do. Delete and upload again? I already did this once with this one post and the deleted post never disappeared. I would appreciate any advice at this point.
Tmac Pictures commented on Monday, September 26, 2016 5:24am
It would be great if there were a "rotate" button, as it is annoying to have to waste data & time having to use an editing program to rotate an image - that is fine on most products, but needs to be rotated and then uploaded to fit on other products (eg. a normally vertical image, has to be rotated & then uploaded as a separate large file, a horizontal file to use it on things like towels, long pillows, & leggings, etc).

Also, I got a 24mp camera which takes 4000x6000 pixel images,
so, I was wondering, how many megapixels does a camera need to get the 7500pixels required for several of your items?

I also have many great photos I'd like to use which are also way to small at just 10mp.

What are some good free/opensource programs these days to do good quality enlargements for my 10mp & 24mp photos to the required 7500pixels?

Tmac Pictures commented on Monday, September 26, 2016 6:29am
Judith Clay,
I'm just new here, & noticed after uploading several, that 1 didn't show in the storefront, but the rest showed (new uploader) - the 1 that didn't show - had in red "draft" written below title, the "My Art" & "Manage" - I went to "Edit" for that image & clicked "Edit Products" - & selected the uploader I used (new uploader), & Saw at the side, below the title, on the left of screen, it was saved as a draft - "Unpublished" - because I forgot to hit the left button/box saying "Publish" (Located Below "Title" & below "Post Status", on the Left of Screen, after uploading & sorting out the images!) .

So, If you forget to hit the "Publish" button on the left of screen, after saving your images - (in new uploader) - then it will only be an unpublished draft & Wont be Published to / shown in your Storefront!

So, double check you hit the publish button from " https://society6.com/studio/art/manage/1 " - in column "Date Published" - it will either say "Date" (in Black) or "Draft" in Red. If it says "Draft" in Red, got to the circle thing, with arrow in final column & click the arrow & click the arrow & select "Edit Products" & hit the Black button to Left of screen that says "Publish"

I hope that helps you Judith!

(If done in "New Uploader" - I Haven't tried the "Old Uploader" yet!

Wendy Townrow commented on Monday, September 26, 2016 4:52pm
It is crazy that 11 days after announcing the new uploader we are still having issues. I know that teething problems are not unusual but the flaws with this are major.
The old way of doing things had its issues but at least it was relatively efficient in that new work showed straight away, work was searchable, products were shown correctly (most of the time, unless it was a mug which seemed to go AWOL all of the time).

Now we have no idea if our work has been uploaded correctly, no-one can see it so no-one can buy it, more work is needed to get the products looking as they should. In some cases we are uploading way more images than we were in the original uploader.

I finally had work appear in "My Society>My Posts" that I uploaded about a week ago. To me that is just not acceptable.

Is anybody besides a "bot" answering the submitted "feedback" tickets, or are they so inundated that they cant?
Wendy Townrow commented on Monday, September 26, 2016 4:54pm

It's now Tuesday and my latest post is still stuck at the bottom of my feed. It's received one like and that's it. This is disappointing.

I promised myself I would be a little bit more patient but this is just silly. Where are the changes, the fixes you promised for the weekend? I'm seeing other artists publishing new work every day (the big ones on this site I should point out), yet my shop is still in limbo? I have artwork drafts ready to be posted. I've spent time getting each of them right so that they look nice when they're (finally) on my shop. I'm now wondering if I should delete them all and upload them through the old system, including the Schrödinger's post. What if that doesn't work? What do I do? Should we really expect to wait until everything is fixed? A lot of artists are gearing up for the busiest time of the year, but with a buggy product upload and a store in disarray, this is going to be almost impossible.
Patrick Durston commented on Monday, September 26, 2016 5:17pm

Patrick Durston commented on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 1:17am
I've deleted and re-uploaded my recent post through the old upload system and, lo and behold, it's gained EIGHT likes and is displaying correctly in my feed, proving that the new version is completely and utterly useless for uploading work. If I knew it was this bad I would've uploaded it through the traditional way, saving me a lot of time and frustration. Now I have claw back a week’s worth of missing work, all because I was patient and willing enough to wait for the fixes to arrive, which clearly they’re not judging by how seriously bad this is. I hope I’m wrong. For now I shall be sticking with the old system and staying well away from this one. I'd advise you before you make the shift completely that you at least fix everything before you leave us with no workable system to use. Sorry if I come across as harsh, but the fact that you released something as flawed as this without any proper testing is a smack in the face to your artist cohort.
Kirsten Star commented on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 2:00am
3 artworks uploaded with the new loader are showing in my society feed, 4 are not! I have also noticed on cell phone cases sometimes the image shifts so that it's half off the product, and even by trying to fix it, it doesn't stick. It looks really bad for potential customers. As the holiday season is gearing up, fixing these issues is of THE MOST IMPORTANCE! If these problems aren't fixed asap it is going to really hit us all during holiday shopping season, the best time of the year for all of us!
frillyfrocks commented on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 2:19am
At least I'm not the only one having these issues! Not only are new works uploaded through the artist studio not appearing in my store front, any works I uploaded through the studio and then deleted (not just unpublished) are still showing up in the prints section. The delayed text display when typing a description/tags is really strange, too.
Seems people have had luck re-uploading through the old system? I'll give that a try!

I have tried and tried, but my images do not show up. It also takes way too long to upload one image compared to other sites which are done in minutes, S6 now takes an hour for one. It freezes up my computer big time and I have a great computer! Nothing else freezes it up. I really hope it's all sorted before the Holiday season starts in November. Over all, some of the previously-posted items show the same price in the "latest" as in the individual product pages, and others show a lower price in the "latest" display than on the individual product pages. Is indexing ongoing? Thanks for the work this project requires. :)

Hi All - Thanks for hanging in there. Our re-index process has been slower than we anticipated. We are still processing updates to shops and expect this process to complete in the next 24 hours. At that point, all shops should accurately reflect currently enabled posts. We are looking into the additional feedback you have provided and will provide additional updates on those items. Thanks!

BBrightman commented on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 4:16pm
Are fixes in the works to correct the issue with promotions not showing up correctly? The works uploaded with the new system will show 0 on the gallery page, but may show there are actually 8 promotions once you click on it and arrive at a product page. Also, im having recurring problems uploading the 6500X5524 files separately for the blankets and tapestry's. It either continually spins and never uploads, or it uploads and still shows the message that my file isnt big enough.
Lastly, like all the others before me that have posted the same- Uploading the shirt design multiple times is seriously annoying and time consuming. Why display all the shirt previews underneath on the upload page for tshirts if it isnt going to show up on the tank and other styles too?
I know you are working hard to fix all this stuff. So thank you for listening to us all gripe.
AwakeningLight commented on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 5:56pm
I don't want to be overly critical because I know the people working on this are feeling badly enough right now. This has been going on for 2 weeks and I have been hearing about imminent re-indexing that is supposed to solve everything for a week now. I personally have had to stop using Society6 because no new work or changes I upload are visible on my storefront or in My Society regardless of which upload system I use. It appears that the principles either convinced themselves or were convinced by IT consultants that making a major system update on the fly without adequate testing in an isolated redundant environment or capacity planning was OK. At what point do you throw in the towel and put it back the way it was until the problems are worked out? Or was there no contingency backout plan? Guys I realize selling art is not life or death but your artists are frustrated and sales must be impacted, and this is visible worldwide so you are damaging your brand which hurts everyone. Is it time to fall on your sword? How about a little transparency?
UMe Images commented on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 9:28pm

Those who think this is a faster uploader for pattern artists is incorrect. Please consider that there is a difference between landscape and portrait products. It takes orders of magnitude longer to use this uploader as it is now, because one has to upload the same landscape graphic about 15 times on different products to get the graphics positioned correctly, if the initial graphic is portrait. The added product control is a minor advantage, especially with the current tools' placement and preview rendering unreliability and extra time-cost required to get lucky on a good stable composition.

Please do not suggest that pattern or abstract artists do not care now the graphics land on the product because it’s dismissive and untrue. As primarily a pattern artist, I take great care in making attractive compositions for each product type.

@ Matt .... The new Uploader is still not working correctly. The whole process is taking way longer than it would doing it the old way. Then I knew that I had a set number of items to upload and they wouod be displayed as designed. The time to upload now is the same as the old way ... as long as I dont want to change images on some of the products!

Now I upload one image ... it shows on everything as long as it is the right size. However not everything fits on all products.

I went to upload an image for the leggings ... the original was showing in the right place and I just saved it and activated it... it then says that the image is not the right size ... you cant turn it off now though as it wants you to upload and edit. I tried that ... twice ... but the png is not showing up.

On all the other products the image looks fine as displayed ... they are filling a very nice rectangular shape so I click the "On" activation button. The image then decides to shrink down to fit into the space instead of filling it. On the few I tried to edit the image was not showing up to edit.

If I want to replace an image for example on the phone cases ... I now have to upload it 5 times (same for apparel) .... waste of data on my end (especially on a slow limited data connection), waste of storage space on yours. At least on Zazzle we upload it to our image gallery once and use it from there.

These uploading problems have been going on for 2 weeks now with them being no closer to resolution. Patience is wearing thin.

Like Spires said we are designers who want to make our work look the best it possibly can. trial and error is not in our DNA!

Just logged in and noticed that at the bottom of the page where it says "Latest" only showcases 1 of my art pieces and it's an old one. Why are things disappearing?
Marina Scheinost commented on Thursday, September 29, 2016 4:31am
Still I could not upload a single picture with the new uploader. My feedback-mails don't get a single answer too. That is really a sad thing. As long as the old system works I'll be fine, but afterwords? I'll have to change to somewhere else if nobody cares.
BBrightman commented on Thursday, September 29, 2016 5:20am
@MG-Studio i have noticed the same thing. My newest additions never show up as my newest on that first page. Only when i click on see more do they show up as new. And the promotions always read 0 on that screen even if i've gotten 16. I have to click on my pic to see how many promotions i actually have.
@ Matt Haggard- The product previews are still coming up funny. The laptop and i pad covers and skins frequently only show half the design. And sitewide some of the product previews come up not at all.

Oh for crying out loud, in addition to the other problems so many others are having, a few days ago I spent HOURS editing all info, replacing all tags, adjusting designs on shirts . . . and checking everything as I went. Now none of my work shows the new edits, everything is back to what it was before I wasted all that time. So over this.

As of 11:30am ET, the link to my shop that I have been using for months in all my social media posts no longer works! Clicking the link https://society6.com/mellowcat which I have been using since I joined this site to guide users to my shop returns the error message: "Unknown Error. Unable to retrieve available product types for artist: mellowcatunknown." If I go to the Society6 home page and do a search for "mellowcat," the search returns about half of my designs. What is going on? I posted a new photo yesterday, and now I can't do a social media campaign for it, because I don't know how to tell potential buyers to reach my shop. I'm sorry folks. I know you are trying but THIS IS A DISASTER.
Jan4insight commented on Thursday, September 29, 2016 8:47am
mellowcat, I have the same problem. I just clicked a few other artist profiles and their pages aren't coming up, either. It has to be something related to the site rebuilding that's going on. I hope they're working on it to get it fixed SOON.

Meanwhile - hey Society6, it would be really nice if you sent out an email to tell why our shops are offline, and when you think it will be fixed (hint, hint).

LebensART Photography commented on Thursday, September 29, 2016 9:22am
I agree with Brenda: to be able to uplaod all prepared assets at the same time is something I would really miss! So far, the new uploader will be less time consuming just for a few user: those who work with pattern or such and those who do not care how the design fits on the product. For all other, it will take much more time to use the new uplader, as long as certain features will not be adjusted.
Christopher Dina commented on Thursday, September 29, 2016 10:38am
@Matt Maggard Having the same issues as @Olechka where edits and updates to existing works made with new uploader are disappearing after a short while. This is mainly happening with carry pouches and wide pillows.

There also seems to be a disconnect between pattern position as viewed on my product page and what I am seeing in the new uploader thumbnails/previews...they may appear correct on the uploader side but not on my product page.

I agree with @Spires on the importance of precise placement control on products when it comes to patterns, and all art really. As others have mentioned, a centering tool would be great so we are sure work is 100% center-aligned on products. An incremental "nudging" tool would also be helpful to nudge a pattern into place so that it can be replicated every time. The ability to upload a files for each product should be kept in place for full control of appearance and composition.

I see artist pages are down - very much hoping the issues and bugs we are experiencing lately are being resolved once and for all. Thanks.

You guys need to be fair and tell us the real situation. By NOT providing adequate information on some or all of the thing that could or would go wrong in the last 2 weeks you've left so many artists with compromised income, lost sales, hours spent working within your OLD and NEW system. Come on. Shoot straight with us.

I strong encourage everyone to STOP using or even bothering to look at your stores until this is resolved. I and many others have basically beta tested the CRAP out of your system and it's a nightmare and you know it.

Shit happens, we all are here because we love Soc6 but your going to keep losing everyone to Zazzle because income is day to day for a lot of us and we love that we can use your service to make ourselves money and YOU GUYS money, but we should not be expected to continue bashing our heads against walls not knowing on an hour to hour basis how our uploads are going to look, promotions lost, draft deletions, multiple posting of the same item, inability to actually delete posts.

You guys have got to get real with us and quit the BS updates that solve some problems and create new ones hence causing us to be optimistic, see if things have improved and again end up with lost time.

If I didn't love you I wouldn't care I would be at your competitors. Let us know the actual situation and were going to be so much less hostile and frustrated.

How can an alpha update (not even an alpha) get out to public is mind boggling to me.. On other stores big updates like this take months to beta test, close to a year.. And you keep and keep screwing up our stores.. Losing promotes, losing comments, what next?? Will we lose our designs we worked hard on making? Will we lose our stores?? It's come to a point that we are scared about our future here on S6...

New design tool doesn't work , old one won't even post..

Can't post comment because they get deleted, can't promote because promotes get deleted, can't upload new work, can't do anything... On some of our designs we have 0 promotes and 0 comments but all had many.. Everything lost...

And don't even say again "our x problem is being fixed and will be fixed in this week" you say it over and over again and nothing gets fixed.. We believe that you will but it always gets worse..

Like @kaydence said, tell us the real situation and stop making excuses. If you are afraid to post it to public send an email to all designers. We DESERVE to know the real situation! WE ARE ALL SOCIETY6!

The main complaint I have which I've only seen stated a few times so I'll bring it back up is the limited style choices that photographers have. Compared to the classic uploader when we could choose whichever style we wanted. The limited styles mean limited people finiding our work which is disappointing.

More problems:

- Missing artwork/promotions/comments
- Promotions increasing/decreasing randomly
- Missing keywords on artwork descriptions (I'm using the old system, I refuse to use the new one)

It's got to the point where the bugs have gone from affecting individual artworks to now whole pages. This is only going to get worse before it gets better. Zazzle sounds appealing now. Sorry.

All - I realize intel has been woefully sparse in recent days, for which I sincerely apologize, but I’m happy to report we’ve been making great progress in stabilizing the new system and the site as a whole. I’ll address a number of comments and concerns below by highlighting some specific updates.

Recently Resolved:

- My Society for both desktop and mobile populates the correct image at the expected time. Some isolated reports of this not being the case are still being investigated.
- New work added to collections will display the expected art vs. a default stand in.
- New posts will correctly appear in the “Latest” section of your shop. Previously uploaded posts will be added in a future update.
- Sluggish tagging on Step 2 has been resolved.
- Some experienced missing content or were unable to proceed to Step 2 from Step 1, which has been resolved.

We’re still working on a handful of high-priority bug fixes, prior to being able to move into desired optimizations, such as Bulk Editing and an ‘All’ category tab on Step 3.

- The image on Step 2 is not rendering properly.
- Setting royalties on old posts revert back to the original royalty.
- It’s possible to upload a custom file that may not be an acceptable size for the specific product, which could put that product into an uneditable state.
- Uploading a custom file may not appear in the “View enabled products” module of the art management system.

We’re very excited to be getting close to wrapping up the most major issues, in which these updates evolve into reporting on optimization progress - updates that enhance the speed, efficiency and customization of the new uploader.

Your continuous feedback has been critical in identifying issues we simply didn’t or couldn’t identify in both our internal and closed-beta testing and we truly do appreciate your patience as we work through them.

As a reminder, you can switch over to the old uploader at any time through the first step of the new upload tool, or from the new art management system, if you’re experiencing problems. Though our goal is that you will soon choose the new system as your preferred process.

It can be an impossible feat to please everyone in a change this big, especially when it comes with unexpected problems, but that’s not going to keep us from trying.

Until we’re there, our commitment to you is a greater level of transparency with more frequency around the remaining work to be done and the next priorities we’ll address. Stay tuned for more news.

I’ll follow-up shortly with direct responses to some of your questions and we may be reaching out individually as not all issues being reported appear to be widespread, where we cannot reproduce ourselves.

Please remain vigilant and open with your feedback - the whole team is listening intently!
Rory Wood commented on Friday, September 30, 2016 6:04pm
@BBrightman - that email was actually just sent to those subscribed to our customer promotional list in response to some site outage issues experienced yesterday, due in part to a number of the fixes we're pushing for the new uploader. Was not intended to be address to our artist community in response to the direct uploader issues we've been working with everyone on.
Rory Wood commented on Friday, September 30, 2016 6:08pm
@Wealie - it looks like the last post you uploaded was within the time the bug was still in place. Have you uploaded anything recently, say in the last 24 hours, in which it did not appear where/when expected?
Rory Wood commented on Friday, September 30, 2016 6:12pm
@Kaleiope Studio @MG-Studio - the team required to address issues with the uploader is definitely a different team than the one that generates general blog content. While the entire engineer force is working as hard and fast as possible on the issues we're discussing, other teams are still working just as hard to help generate opportunity for the community, wherein blog posts are simply one of the projects we invest in to do that.

Nada and Stephanie are very talented, but would probably be less than effective at smashing bugs!
Rory Wood commented on Friday, September 30, 2016 6:14pm
@David Zydd - would you be able to give some more context? We've got a team on this side testing and uploading all day, and are seeing thousands of posts making it through the new system just fine. It seems for at least those in the discussion on this post, lots of frustrating outcomes are isolated incidents.

Some more detail on precisely what you're encountering would really help us track down a potential unique issue.
Rory Wood commented on Friday, September 30, 2016 6:24pm
@Mellowcat and anyone else experiencing a "missing shop" issue - can you please confirm if this is still what you are seeing? We've checked your shops directly and they appear to be intact. Please advise and we'll definitely investigate further.

Ralph S. Carlson commented on Friday, September 30, 2016 9:25pm
@Matt Maggard The one item I posted with the new uploader, Rhododendron Afternoon, has been moved from the end of the line into #2 spot in the LATEST display. It still has a single promo. The #3 spot is occupied by Monarch Overexposed. It was posted with the old system, and before the current #2 item was moved, Monarch Overexposed had garnered more than 30 promos, but now it shows none. As I work through pages 1 through 14 of the Art Prints display, the pricing of some things shows as $13 and it shows as $25 for others. Clicking from the Art Print array into the individual posting for a file, the base price of $25 for the Mini shows as it should. Thanks for the hard work. I look forward to the end of the growing pains!

@Rory Wood--Hi Rory,
Sorry for the slow reply, I just now signed on and noticed your comment. My shop appears to be intact, but I don't have time right now to look at every post, I only checked my most recent post "Cherry Plum Blossoms." Some of the thumbnails for the individual products under that post (i.e., throw blankets, wall hangings, etc.,) were a little slow to load, but they come up eventually. Overall, it doesn't seem any slower than normal. The product thumbnails often load slowly or not at all, even before the most recent upgrade attempts began. Thanks for all your efforts at getting things back to normal.

Is it possible for your IT folks to give us an estimated ETA as to when things will be stable enough to begin doing social media promotions again? I don't want to promote something, only to have potential customers have problems with the site.

Thanks.
Mellowcat commented on Saturday, October 1, 2016 6:08am
@Rory Wood--Rory, one other thing. If this would help your development team, all my product files under my posts (with the exception of my earliest posts to your site) have titles with the name of the post, the size of the file, and the product it is intended for. Your developers have my permission to use these files to test uploading/displaying on your system. I'm not giving you permission to display my images publicly or sell the products, just use the files to test your system.

However all links to metal prints have disappeared and there is no longer a menu item on left side of main screen. Thanks for the improved transparency.
AwakeningLight commented on Saturday, October 1, 2016 9:08am
@Rory Wood Correction, I still have 2 orphaned image fragments under My Society / My Posts. They show several promotions but when I click on them they only link back to Society6 main page. These are still left over from failed attempts to use the new uploader and apparently my using the delete function in the new uploader did not clean things up like it should. I have not yet successfully published an image with the new uploader and they can't be deleted so I am reluctant to try it again. There seem to still be a lot of people having problems with the new uploader even though your engineers can't reproduce these failures. That suggests something is wrong with, or inadequate in, your test environment.

Based on the comments above I tried the uploader again. It is really coming along nicely. Thank you for all the work you are putting in to it. This is going to be such a big improvement once the remaining kinks are worked out. Here are a few little things I noticed. 1. The Tote Bag preview isn't loading for editing. Some others are slow, but this one is so slow I gave up. 2. The shirt previews don't change color - for example if you say you do not want the design on black, it is still displaying on black (at least in the listing interface). It would be nice if it changed so we know what we are designing. 3. As others have mentioned, a tool that allows centering would be very helpful (it should allow full center, horizontal center and vertical center as three options). Lastly, my latest listing still did not go through to My Society, at least not that I can see.

Lena Photo Art commented on Sunday, October 2, 2016 8:14am
@Wendy it is hit and miss. I uploaded several images with the new uploader. Some of them show in My Society/My Posts, some don't. However most of them getting promotions (showing as 0 in My Storefront). Means they are probably visible for the other people. The numbers are all mixed up. I don't really know how it works.
I tried also correcting products from the New Uploader. Some of the thumbnails take forever to render. It is getting better but still long way to go.

Hi there, thanks to newest comments I tried a new uploader after a week or so. Have to say it's definitely faster then it used to be. Good progress. New post is on the bottom of My posts with images which were deleted lately. These deleted one finally disappeared from my shop in the middle of this week. Thanks for sorting out this issue. We will see if new image will be visible to the others, will give you a proper feedback through an uploader tomorrow. Thanks for all the hard work, hope that everything will be alright soon. Can see that it's on a good way. P.S.:Not going to mention disappearence of hearts as I don't get many really often, but well ... it hurts :D
Wendy Townrow commented on Sunday, October 2, 2016 7:23pm
If the "My Posts" are supposed to keep us up to date with what we post and action on the posts then mine is most definitely not working as expected.
I tried to do a "Blog Post" via the new method and that failed to work totally. I had to use the classic uploader.

As has been noted by others there is a disparity between how many "hearts" are on the "latest" post on the shop front and what shows when you click through to the product.

Just uploaded new art with new Uploader - such a bummer it is shown in the very bottom of My Posts. Now i'm curious, is it visible for my followers on My Society feed at all? Is this issue fixed for everyone now?
Or i should rather keep using Old Uploader.

btw.. was very disappointed, uploading apparel took trice as much time as before.. all these .png's need to be uploaded separately..

A line from in old add-water-heat-and-stir TV commercial was, "Is it soup yet?" I guess it (the new system) is not "soup" yet. I'll keep checking. :)
va103 commented on Monday, October 3, 2016 12:02pm
Hi @Rory. This is about about already existing designs.

I wanted to add clear cases designs to my old works, but it's not possible using the old upload.
When I tried to use new upload system:
10 tags the new system automatically picked from the tags which were used for that design wouldn't really be my best choice, sorry. Meaning that I probably need to go ahead and fix the automatically added tags for all of my existing designs.
Wall Tapestry, Throw Blanket designs were missing even though I uploaded designs for this product a while ago. I don't keep all the designs for different products after I upload them to society6. Does this mean that in order to add clear cases I also need to create again and add wall tapestry and throw blanket designs even though I already added them once?
3) "ALSO AVAILABLE AS" slider displays thumbnails in a weird way: some of the designs are displaced showing white strap on the right (leggings only show designs on one leg, another leg shown white). For example I can see that my design takes only 1/4 of the for iPhone and iPod cases width, the rest is white. I also see those displaced designs on the product pages for Stationary Cards, Leggings, Shower Curtains, etc. (I am using Google Chrome, Version 53.0.2785.116 m)
4)Would be nice to have sorting or search function or both

It's definitely not soup yet . . . it's more like a train wreck. Every time I check, it seems to be worse (at least in my case).
va103 commented on Monday, October 3, 2016 12:23pm
@Rory, here is the link where you can see displaced "also available as" slider thumbnails: https://society6.com/product/moon-gaz...157p4a1v45 and if you click on a thumbnail which appears to be displaced, say leggings, it shows the right design on those leggings product page.

The team has continued to push out updates through the weekend and you all should be seeing general performance improvements plus the following:

- Adjusting royalties on old posts should now stick.
- Images are fully rendering on Step 2 of uploader.

Additionally, we’ve identified the “missing promotions/comments” issue some have reported. The data isn’t actually missing, it’s just out of sync with some areas we expect the data to appear. We’ve been able to manually fix a couple of accounts (looking at you @Lena Photo Art), to verify the exact issue, and will be rolling that fix out to everyone as soon as possible.

Current open issues are as follows…

- Comments/Promotes are out of sync in a number of areas (see above).
- New posts are showing up at bottom of ‘My Posts’ instead of top.
- ‘Also Available As’ populates new work inconsistently and sometimes skewed.
- It’s possible to upload a custom file that may not be an acceptable size for the specific product, which could put that product into an uneditable state.
- Uploading a custom file may not appear in the “View enabled products” module of the art management system.

Please keep the insights coming. We are verifying individual reports as fast as we can, and are using reporting accounts where we can to verify fixes.
Rory Wood commented on Monday, October 3, 2016 3:26pm
@7115 - your new piece showed up nice and clear in my My Society feed this morning, so we are good there. Took us a minute to realize many were reporting the missing posts from the My Posts section of My Society - in which they aren't really missing, just at the very bottom.

Working actively to resolve that issue.
AwakeningLight commented on Monday, October 3, 2016 3:38pm
@Rory Wood Please add missing menu item for metal prints and missing links to metal prints to the list to be worked on
AwakeningLight commented on Monday, October 3, 2016 4:00pm
@Rory Wood Nevermind, they are there now. Thanks.
Lena Photo Art commented on Monday, October 3, 2016 4:54pm
@Rory Wood, Thank you so much! Yes, today I noticed considerable improvement in the whole behavior of my site. The uploader is rendering the images fast. The promotions are there with the right numbers and the new images are showing in the section Latest. However they are still not showing in the section My Society (as it was with the old uploader). Obviously they are showing in the same section of the fellow artists since they are getting promoted. For the record, from the images that I uploaded with the new system only 4 (out of at least 10 or 12) are showing in My Society/My Posts.

One can see clearly that it is getting much better, there is no missing or blank parts on the individual items during rendering and during browsing through the images.

One thing that I would like to mention (it is possible that it will be fixed in the latest phases of the project) - the editing with the new system is a bit clumsy. When I click on an image from my shop and would like to go to edit it or to add new products, the system is opening the beginning of the list of my images. I have to go through the whole list, which is quite long, to find the image, click again on the Edit Products and then I can do whatever I intend to.
Also, when I click on Manage My Post and go to the list of the images to do corrections, the system is slow and the list is populated with the images in random order; each time different too.
I am sure you are aware of this and possibly working to fix it.
Thank you again. All in all I am pleased with the new system and waiting impatiently for all the bugs to get resolved!
AwakeningLight commented on Monday, October 3, 2016 5:10pm
@Rory Wood Here is what I think happened but it is hard to tell for sure from my perspective. Metal prints were not showing on any of my pages. I went into the edit function of the new uploader for 2 of the images and turned on metal prints which were off, not my doing. I turned on metal prints and saved but did not uplaod new files. Miraculously the metal print menu item and metal prints for 7 images appeared. But... A broken image under 'Latest' on my main page appeared for one of the 2 images that I activated metal prints for. And unlinked images from previous problems with the new uploader also reappeared under My Society - My Posts after being removed earlier by your team's updates. So there are still these bugs to be worked out.
Wendy Townrow commented on Monday, October 3, 2016 5:37pm
@Rory I did indeed find my "latest" at the very end of "My Society > My Posts" page ... it took ages to get to it though.

Are the Feedbacks being looked at ....? I have sent a screen dump of me trying to edit one of the products .... in the end it is basically nearly impossible to edit.

Rory Wood commented on Monday, October 3, 2016 6:01pm
@Lena Photo Art - Your editing suggestion is definitely in line with some optimizations we'd like to make too. Will provided updates as we get out of bug territory, and into enhancement land!

General slowness is definitely on of those areas we'll be looking into.
Rory Wood commented on Monday, October 3, 2016 6:04pm
@Wendy Townrow - Posts moving forward will appear at the top of My Posts. We're going to work on getting post affected by the issue to also appear in the proper order. That said, any work that gets a new comment will pop up to the top, so it's only a matter of time before affected posts will get corrected - assuming they'll receive comments through your follower's My Society.

Feedbacks are definitely being collected and catalogued. We're getting a healthy dose of feedback, much more through the tool than through blog comments - so it isn't realistic we'll be able to answer all of them personally. But the goal would be to read all of the to find issues and catalog requests for future development.
Rory Wood commented on Monday, October 3, 2016 6:05pm
@AwakeningLight - It does sound like those Metal Prints being disabled is the culprit for why they aren't showing up in your Shop navigation, that said it's definitely odd if you enabled them and they became disabled.

Rendering of preview tiles around the site are still getting attention. Once I've been able to confirm the issues we're addressing get fixed, I'd love to get your input on if it's fixed for you personally.

Looks good on the product preview where you can drag/resize, but the preview on the bottom and the live product page are way off (zoomed in and skewed). I tried re-saving and turning and product on and off but it's not helping.

@Rory. Delighted that this morning for the first time items I uploaded using the new mechanism appeared at the top of "My Posts" and began to get reactions from the community! The system also worked very well and loaded rapidly in the morning Swiss time (which would have been the middle of the night your time). I was even able to see previews of items like the Tote bag which wouldn't load before, but now that it's morning in the USA, the system seems extremely slow again and the previews aren't loading. I've also send a few feedback messages on specific issues (Rugs displays, and other display issues). However, overally it looks like all your hardwork is paying off and one by one the issues are getting resolved.

Judith Clay commented on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 5:52am
I'm sure this has been addressed before: is there any way that the products that require the same dimensions (for example: pillows/tote bags/shower curtains/duvet cover) do NOT have to be uploaded one by one? Or all the different t-shirt styles? It was so much less time-consuming with the old uploader where when you uploaded the pillow file it got populated to the bags, curtains, and duvet covers automatically.
David Zydd commented on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 5:55am
@PLdesign: The classic uploader seems to work correctly.

@Rory Wood: The products look good, but when I turn them on, the image goes to the wrong place. But I think, somebody mentioned this since here...

Since I've prepared hundreds of images in advance (I've converted them to the 9-10 different image sizes), it's very fast for me to use the classic uploader. I'll wait until the new uploader works correctly and it has extra features.

@Rory Wood--HELP!!! A new problem today. When I view my most recent post "Cherry Plum Blossoms" I do not see the "Also Available As" gallery. I have uploaded files for duvet covers, phone cases, laptop skins, clocks, all-over print t's, mugs, travel mugs, wall tapestries & throw blankets, and NONE of the thumbnails are showing up. The "Also Available As" gallery is completely missing for this post. It was there a couple of days ago after you guys restored my shop, but it's gone now.

I deleted and re-uploaded the product files a few minutes ago using Chrome browser and the Classic Uploader thinking that might help, but it didn't. I used the Classic uploader also for the original upload of all the files.

The "Also Available As" galleries seem to be there for my other posts. Just the page for my "Cherry Plum Blossoms" post seems to be messed up. Here is the link to the page for that post https://society6.com/product/cherry-p...259p4a1v45

Can someone please fix this? I can't do a social media promotion with this kind of random stuff happening. HELP!!

Thanks.

@Rory Wood I seem to have resolved problems with metal prints by enabling and uploading new images using the new uploader. I didn't mention it before but like @Mellowcat reported, for all of my images that didn't have metal prints showing, the entire row "Also Available As" was mssing for all products. This may be a clue to the cause of the problem. @Mellowcat, I suggest you go into the new uploader edit function for "Cherry Plum Blossums" and make sure all products you tried to enable are in fact enabled.

Hi @Rory. I have left a comment here on 9/30 and have sent in a bug report via email. My problems have not been addressed. The image I deleted is still showing up on My Society and has a new Promote/Heart on it. But if you click on the image, it takes you to the main page of Society6. I have Unpublished another item, and that's also still showing up. Same deal. If you click on it, it takes you to the main website. They should not be showing up at all. I have not uploaded anything in the past 2 weeks for this reason. I can't ask folks to visit the shop and have them click on broken links. I can send the bug report again by email, but I don't want to send in a duplicate report. If you're reading and listening, thank you in advance.

@Rory Wood--I just checked my post "Cherry Plum Blossoms," and the "Also Available As" gallery has returned as mysteriously as it disappeared, and all my products for that post are showing up. Thank you to the tech people for fixing this.

@AwakeningLight--Thank you for the suggestion, but I uploaded "Cherry Plum Blossoms" using the Classic Uploader in the first place, and the "Also Available As" gallery was there yesterday, and all the products were showing up, so I don't want to go in and mess around with it using the new uploader. I'm afraid that will just confuse things for the tech people who are trying to debug this.

Everything seems to be back to normal now, so all's well that ends well.
Rory Wood commented on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 5:06pm
No preamble. Today’s progress listed below…

- New posts are now showing up at the top of My Posts within My Society.
- Missing ‘Also Available As’ modules have been found. All products should display other available products.
- Products will still be visible in the “View enabled products” section of the art management window when you upload a custom file.

Issues we’re still investigating or have added to our ongoing investigation...

- Comments/Promotes are out of sync in a number of areas.
- It’s possible to upload a custom file that may not be an acceptable size for the specific product, which could put that product into an uneditable state.
- ‘Also Available As’ populates work inconsistently and sometimes skewed.
- Un-publishing or deleting a post does not remove the post from My Society.

I’ll respond to some optimization comments that have been added to this post in a follow-up comment. But please keep us posted if anyone is seeing any other anomalies.
Rory Wood commented on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 5:09pm

Rory Wood commented on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 5:15pm
@Antique Images - Glad to hear the site was singing for you during your ideal time, and confirmed there may be some sluggishness during peak usage times. That said, we don't see that as acceptable either, and a big focus for us will be optimizing the efficiency of the platform while we fix bugs and make improvements.
Rory Wood commented on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 5:17pm
@Judith Clay - While we're really focused on smashing a few of these remaining bugs, as I've mentioned in some recent updates we're looking forward to turning the conversation over to enhancements, one of the first of which is a Bulk Edit option to upload a custom file for specific products clusters. Kind of like the old uploader, but within the new art management system.

We'll provide updates as to our progress there in the coming days/weeks.

Posts I have saved or pinned to my social media feeds appear with random titles and random names . . . example: "The Red Barn" appears as "Funky DL Art Print by JLillustration", and when clicked, the link takes me to the home page of S6. This might be a distant possibility, but will there be a way to organize the new post list by date, or by # of sales per design?

Also, would it be possible to choose the number of entries shown? The volume of designs that I have makes it hard to navigate. It would be great to have a chronological list by date, for organizational purposes, and to know which designs are selling best without having to manually count sales from the reports.

@Rory Wood--My "Also Available As" galleries appear to be back. Thank you.
However, there is a new problem. Your system has automatically enabled clear iPhone cases for my designs for which I have uploaded a t-shirt (not all-over print) image. This is fine where the image is square/rectangular, but for a number of my mandala designs I have created special round image just for t-shirts. I don't think these look good when applied to an iPhone case. Please see https://society6.com/product/silk-man...512a73v514 as an example, and compare it to my regular iPhone case. Your development team may want to consider that not all t-shirt images make good iPhone cases before they continue with this automatic enabling of products. I'm afraid of going into the new uploader and trying to mess around with disabling these cases because the system is so unstable. I'll put up images for clear iPhone cases once you have a stable system.
Thanks for your help.

@Janice Sullivan @Andrea Joy / Shots From the Hip - We're having trouble reproducing the My Post issue at this point. All the tests we've conducted have it showing up at the top a few seconds after uploading. Can you confirm this is still ongoing for you? It's very strange to hear it's still in affect.

Also, looking into the social issue you've reported. I asked around and it sounds like a couple other reports rolled in a couple of months ago, so it's unrelated to the new uploader, but still very strange since it's not affecting all shares.

Is this every time you share or just on a few products?
Rory Wood commented on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 6:02pm
@Olechka - Thanks so much for sharing the update and the links to the affected products. Our engineers are looking into it. We believed we'd fixed, and had confirmed the fix, that updates to old products weren't always sticking. But your report has us opening that back up.

Can you confirm for those linked products, you're only updating in the new uploader at this point?
Rory Wood commented on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 6:06pm
@Mellowcat - Thanks for the appreciation. We're hustling! As for Clear Cases, we are still working on getting those right and will be making updates over the next couple of days, but all focus has been on getting the uploader stabilized. @Rory - yes, I am only updating with the new uplaoder.

I just checked the 3 links again and the one that had not reverted back this morning did so sometime later in the day - it's back to the original version w/o tags and with old prices.

The artworks that are having this issue all have in common that they are some of my most popular works, with lots of promotes and strong sales.

After using new uploader now few times, i actually have to admit it really takes so much more time than the old version. It saves time only if you make patterns, which i don't.
I already prepped all files the old way, but now for every product i have to upload separate file, also for the ones which have same format (totes, pillows, shower curtain, duvet etc which earlier were automatically added), also all .png-s for all apparel tops, hi-res files are pretty heave - thus uploading takes time.. Plus i also have to remember by heart which products had the same format (like laptops and rectangular pillows, totes and duvets etc), but now i have to center and size some of them manually, despite my file being exact right size (f.e. pillows etc). Some previews also don't show bleed (clock, phones f.e) which makes it difficult to place files (i just really hope customer won't get some white corners or rims on ordered product..).
I was supper enthusiastic about this new uploader (since i like similar one at RedBubble), but now i'm really kind of put off by it..

I agree with 7115: for those who used to prepare a different file for the different sizes/products (and I believe that this is the workflow of many artists) the new uploader takes much more time than the old one!

(4) uploading large images in for the towels using the uploader crashed my computer numerous times. Working on a mac. I had to resize smaller to avoid the crashes
Lindel Caine commented on Saturday, October 8, 2016 3:23am
I find the new Artsit Studio much slower than the previous system, especially as people need to wait for their large files to upload and only then can they start to add information. Also there are not enough choices for categories,- the previous amount of choices were better. e.g.: There's now no category now for mixed media, which is something I feel many artist need to describe their work.

When I'd uploaded one large file today, trying to use Artist studio for the second time time, there were no previews for products other than prints and tapestries, I could find no way to add other products or see them at all, so I deleted the published work and switched back to the old uploading system.

Also, I couldn't see a way to make promotional posts with the Artist Studio ? Perhaps I missed a button somewhere ?
Camila Vielmond commented on Saturday, October 8, 2016 10:11am
First time using the new uploader. I have some usability input, a couple of points which I'm sure might have already been suggested somewhere in these comments, but anyway:

-- List the minimum resolution in each product edition page without requiring the user to try to upload an image first.

-- Include buttons for alignment and patterns.

Centered vertical and horizontal alignment options are indispensable. If you also include top-right, top-left etc you'll be one step ahead of other POD, and being able to repeat the image will be extremely useful for people selling patterned products.

Some sort of on-the-fly validation which warns the seller when the image isn't covering the entire product (leaving white borders) would be fantastic. As the new uploader is now it can be actually very hard to ensure a good image placement.

-- Please, PLEASE, split Samsung cases from Apple ones. Make these brands cases editable separately.

Many Samsung phones have centered cameras. Apple ones are located on the top-left section. It's very hard to position images containing characters or anything with a clear focal point which won't either: have the camera right over the focal point (e.g.: character face), or have a big empty space on the middle-to-top region on iPhones because the seller pushed the focal point down to avoid Samsung's cameras.

That's it for now. Thank you for listening to us and implementing the new uploader. Despite needing a couple of adjustments it's incredibly handful already!
Ralph S. Carlson commented on Saturday, October 8, 2016 11:25am
@Matt Maggard

I concur with Camila Vielmond on the phone case split suggestion.

I am grateful for any and all progress in debugging and innovating the system. So far, I have posted two items with the new uploader and looked at a few previously-published items through the new manager -- and mostly I have waited to see what responses to bug reports have been effective.

I have, for most products, 14 "pages" of thumbnails. My two tries with the new uploader have dutifully moved to the "front of the line" by now, and the more recent of the two shows consistent incrementing of promos and the displays of pricing are consistent in all positions. The one hitch now is that the clear plastic phone case positions accept uploading but do not display, a factor others have noted and one of the items already on the list for debugging. The very first item, "Rhododendron..." hung at the back of the line with one promo for days, incremented to four promos, then moved near the front of the line without any more promo activity showing, while the second "new uploader post," Natural Brass..., has been collecting promos into the double digits.

When changes first began, most of my Art Print displays showed a $25 price for the smallest option, and a very few started showing $13 with the Art Prints thmbnail and $25 when one clicked through to the individual product display. Lately, it seems that more and more of the Art Print thumbnails have flipped to the $13 showing with the thumbnail. Likewise, when I page through the arrays of thumbnails for other products, many of the thumbnails display correctly, a few will not appear until a couple screen refreshes have been done, and sometimes, they will not appear at all -- but will allow clicking through to the product display. Then, the photo file of the product usually is retrieved, but not always.

Positioning varies, too, as in paging through all 14 pages of mug and travel mug products. The first four pages of mug thumbnails usually appear quickly and well, but with page 5, one or two thumbnails are "short-sheeted" to some degree, and every other array of thumbnails there after will have one or more no-shows or partial displays. Sometimes, with repeated page-throughs, it seems as though the same items are disrupted, and sometimes it seems that an item that showed no disruption in a prior page-through was short-sheeted with the then-current page-through -- and vice versa.

I look forward to the resolution of the sundry issues.
Camila Vielmond commented on Saturday, October 8, 2016 1:24pm
(Cosmetic) bug report:

-- If you attempt to upload something smaller than the minimum dimensions at an individual product edition page then upload something in the right resolution the image will no longer be centered and will be scaled over 100%. Canceling and returning fixes it.

E.g.: I uploaded a 1500px square at the cases page. When uploading a 2000px square (min dimension) it's scaled to 133%. If I click on the slider it'll be back to 100%, but clearly not centered.

Happened on Firefox 51.0a2.

The new upload system is cropping the image preview for the my society tab> discover feed.
Example, both design files have the same size but somehow, the purple one showed up as a square : http://i.imgur.com/WkI1m78.jpg

It seems for me that the only posts which are not publishing correctly, that is, not on the top of my society, not being seen by my followers, etc, are the posts that I had saved as drafts....which means I have a lot of posts that I need to delete and recreate from scratch...
AwakeningLight commented on Sunday, October 9, 2016 6:33pm
Any chance of getting the unlinked duplicate images out of My Society / My Posts ? These are left over from failed deletions after failed uploads using the new uploader and then re-uploading with the old uploader. Need to do it in a way that preserves the working images. At this link https://society6.com/society?show=1 note the duplicate for 'Bursting Out Of Context' which has 3 promotions. The size would suggest that the deletion failure left an unlinked tapestry image in the database.

Apologies for the short delay in getting a daily update out, all. Decided to step out for the weekend to get married and the bride wasn't too thrilled with me working through the wedding.

But I'm back and happy to report on some progress we've been making over the weekend.

- New uploads will fully render in the 'Latest' section of your shop.
- Correct promote counts are being displayed on Product Listing pages.

And we're still investigating the following issues.

- Still receiving reports of edits not sticking to old posts for some artists - re-investigating.
- "View As" filter on collections isn't taking into account newer uploads.

More updates to come tomorrow. Standby!
Rory Wood commented on Monday, October 10, 2016 6:35pm
@MADKITTEN - Apologies for not adding that to the investigation list, but it images getting cropped to squares in My Society is another issue we're aware of and looking into.
Rory Wood commented on Monday, October 10, 2016 6:40pm
@Wendy Townrow - The simplest way to look at it is Product X and Product Y. They both have different base prices, which is what Society6 will keep to put towards cost of business, manufacturing, advertising, infrastructure, etc. You choose in both instances what you want to keep from that sale.

Some may choose to simply profit from the art print, so same $ value for each product, not marking up the frame cost further to ensure they keep prices lower for the customer. Others will choose to mark up the frame cost as well.

It's totally up to you on how competitive you'd like to make your framed prints.

Rory Wood

Congratulations!!

So, I've been working on my psd product templates and caught some issues, mostly minor ones. If you could pass it on to the right people that would be great!

-- THROW BLANKETS: Custom images aren't centered. The image dimensions you use don't matter.

-- IPHONE & IPOD SKIN: iPod Touch Skin (1st, 2nd, 3rd gen) has an image placement issue, it'll always leave a noticeable gap at the top.

To recreate upload a 2000x2000 solid color image (E.g.: Hot Pink) and check the resulting skin. It'll have a white stripe at the top. All the cases uploaded in the past with the classic uploader also have this gap. The 4th Gen iPod is also is also placing the top of the image dangerously close to top of the skin for no reason (there is still space at the bottom), it has no top bleed margin at all.

-- CLEAR CASES: This one is new. The minimum dimensions were changed today. They originally were 979x1917, now are 758x1738. The funny part is that a draft from yesterday still enforces 979x1917 as min dimension and scales it accordingly, but a post from today uses 758x1738! There is a downloadable template at the edition page, and it uses the old dimensions. I was very confused.

-- WALL CLOCKS: Similar issue. There is a very thin gap at the left. To reproduce upload a 3500x3500 custom image. Possibly issue with the preview only, but not real product.

-- RUGS: Minor quirk in which a portrait oriented rug will appear as horizontal on the previews (so, cropped to a small section of the tall image).

-- BLOG POSTS: Editing blog posts lead to an empty /post page (Firefox latest edition). The edition is sticks, though.

-- INACCESSIBLE DRAFT: I managed to crash Firefox twice while using the studio. Once the draft worked as expect (wonderful!), but the second time it became inaccessible. Clicking on it, trying to visit the Title and Tag pages or the edit product page lead to a swift redirect to the first page of the Posts Management. Both crashes happened while I was uploading a custom image.

That's it! Sorry for digging up so many bugs, heh.
MG-Studio commented on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 3:31am
@Camila Vielmond When it comes to any kind of phone case I always use 1300x2000 and it fits perfectly, even for the clear case. I had to decrease the size on the slider but at least it wasn't too small.
MG-Studio commented on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 3:38am
@Rory Wood I have a question about how our art is arranged when we click on "Popular". Why is it all random instead of the artworks being arranged from most promotes to least? I have noticed this ever since I joined S6.
Camila Vielmond commented on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 6:30am
@MG-Studio The way the dimensions were changed seems accidental. Even ignoring the fact the change isn't affecting all the posts created with the studio equally, the aspect ratio also changed. Hence the report.

I'm about to upload new artwork and I'm sad to say that I will be using the classic up-loader. My art "Grimm" (uploaded with the new studio) shows in my Recent Work with no image and zero promotes: however, it has been promoted. I want to sell products and I can't do that if the image doesn't thumbnail.
brenda erickson commented on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 6:20pm
well apparently I can't use the old uploader because my post is impossible to find to enable products- so now I have 2 artworks with the same title "antelope canyon" and only one has products besides art prints. sigh. So I guess we can see which post is actually in "my society".
Schatzi Brown commented on Thursday, October 13, 2016 6:18am

Always takes times to get used to something new but....
CONS:
The new upload system is extremely slow so it doesn’t seem to be saving time except in the file prep stage and that is only if you are using patterns or some kind of all over print. Placement, illustration or photography might have to have every product reloaded anyway which is even more time consuming then before.

-I think their should be a ‘tile out’ or ‘repeat’ function, also a ‘zoom’ function to help different types of artwork & their placement (like red bubble has)
-There should definitely be more categories, if the new art studio is suppose to help searches then why were categories limited instead of expanded?
-Same for materials used
-changes/ edits are definitely not sticking
-quite often work is not showing up in new feed or does not have any promotions, resulting in having to re-load work.
-the list of previous post should be ‘searchable’ so if you need to find an older work you don’t have to scroll through each page.

PROS:
-the ability to not include individual products, as per separating the assets.
-the publish date of your artwork in now listed, this is especially handy for copyright violations and helps the artist to keep a record.
- adding tags

hopefully the experience will improve as the bugs con tuned to get fixed????

Today's problem--I uploaded a new image called "Fall Chrysanthemums" three hours ago (Noon, ET) using Chrome and the "classic uploader," and also uploaded separate files for several products. Three hours later, the thumbnail is appearing in "My Posts," but when I click on the thumbnail, instead of being taken to the art print page for my new image, I am instead being taken to a page of random art prints by other artists. The thumbnail for my image is still not appearing under "Latest Uploaded by MellowCat" feed in my shop. None of the products for which I uploaded separate files of the new image are showing up either. It's as if it doesn't exist, except that it has somehow collected three likes/promotes. I have not experienced this problem before, although I notice several other artists have complained about this. I can't send you a link to the page for the image because I can't get to it myself. I keep getting directed to the main art prints page featuring other artists.

How does Society6 expect artists to do social media promotions for their work under these conditions? Uploaded images randomly take hours or days to appear, product thumbnails frequently fail to load in a timely way, products, images, thumbnails, and even entire shops, randomly appear and disappear.

Patrick Durston commented on Thursday, October 13, 2016 12:32pm
Same problem as @brenda erickson and @Mellowcat. I can see my upload on my My Society page, and obviously other people can too as they're promoting it, but as soon as I click on it, it redirects me to the Art page. This is through the old uploader btw.
Patrick Durston commented on Thursday, October 13, 2016 12:43pm
Ignore my last post, it's showing up correctly now. It's something to keep an eye on though.
Mellowcat commented on Thursday, October 13, 2016 1:33pm
@Patrick Durston--Glad it has resolved for you. Unfortunately, I'm still having the same problem.

I also just noticed that the thumbnail images for several of my older posts in my shop have magically duplicated themselves since I last looked at them a couple of days ago. One thumbnail is showing the correct number of likes/promotes, the duplicate is showing zero. If you click on the duplicate image (with zero likes/promotes) you are taken to the art prints page FOR OTHER ARTISTS!! Can someone please fix this? Follow this link, and click on any duplicate image to see the problem first-hand. https://society6.com/mellowcat/prints...new&page=2
Mellowcat commented on Thursday, October 13, 2016 1:42pm
And as if all that weren't enough, thumbnails for some of my images in my "Art Prints by MellowCat" feed are now showing a random price of $13.00 instead of the $14.98 I set for them. If you click on a thumbnail showing the $13.00 price, when the main page for the art print opens it is correctly priced at $14.98. https://society6.com/mellowcat/prints?show=new
Mellowcat commented on Thursday, October 13, 2016 3:01pm
Thank you! The problem with my "Fall Chrysanthemums" thumbnail seems to have been fixed. Clicking on the thumbnail in "my posts" now leads to the art print page for my image, and the thumbnails for other products are appearing correctly at the bottom of the page in the "Also Available As" gallery. The thumbnail is also appearing in the "Latest" gallery in my shop, just as it should.

The problems with duplicate thumbnails and random pricing for some of my older posts remains.

I am holding about 200 things I'd love to list but don't have the time for continued issues day to day on different things, it's marble losing material. I don't care if it's the new system or the old system but when is this going to be fully integrated and fully functional? Is it fair to maybe be straight with us at this point a month in? I really want to use Soc6 for my entire collection, the old system was great, in general you know I love you guys but I'm losing my f*$%ing mind.

MG-Studio commented on Friday, October 14, 2016 1:11am
I have sent my feedback to S6 by e-mail and never got a reply, so I'm not sure whether my suggestions will be taken into consideration or not but I'll post them here as well. The other day I went to edit an artwork to test out the new upload system for the first time and while doing that I have kept a list of suggestions that would make things a lot easier for a lot of people.

- Add a check box next to each artwork listed in the edit section and add a "delete selected" button so that we can delete more than one artwork at a time if we need to.

- When I'm in the "edit" section and I delete an artwork from my list, it takes me back to the first page. I'd rather prefer if you guys made the page refresh after an artwork is deleted instead of us having to constantly click the page number we wish to be on.

- Provide templates for every product with bleed areas and everything and make it available for download in the editing page of each individual product.

- When uploading our art for a specific product, show the percentage instead of the spinning wheel, so that we know how fast/slow our work is uploading to the site.

- I noticed that carry-all pouches were in the same category as "apparel", which makes no sense.

- Once we have done uploading our art and editing everything, it would be great if there's a "back to post" or "see my artwork" button so that we can go see how that specific artwork we have uploaded/edited looks live.

- Add a "center" button so that if we have to resize our art on a product, we can click the "center" button and our artwork automatically centers onto the product. This is helpful for designs that need to be perfectly positioned.

On a side note, I have uploaded an artwork around the same time when this new system came out and it doesn't show up in my store at all but it does show up in "My Society" - "My Posts" and when I click on it, it takes me to the S6 homepage. So I can't view it or delete it cause I can't even get to its page.

Many of us are losing sales because of how long it's taking to fix all these problems. I know a good programmer if you guys need more hands on deck.
Judith Clay commented on Friday, October 14, 2016 7:19am
I haven't uploaded in three weeks, but still experiencing same problems. I uploaded a new illustration today https://society6.com/product/strawber...254p4a1v45

It is not showing up in "My Society" feed;

promotions are coming in very, very slowly (not sure where people see my new post since I can't see it in "My Society");

when I click on the print product link, the information shows up but no image;

The image in "My posts" shows a different number of promotions than under the product link and in other places like in my shop.

I'm not sure why the system seems to work for some users but not for others. I see lots of people get tons of promotions and visibility in "My Society". Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Hi,

I've got a couple new problems with my shop now. I turned off all the products except prints while you guys were launching the new system.

The first problem is:
Now, on my shop's home page, it only shows "Art prints, Framed art prints and Canvas prints" even though I have turned on several other products. When you click on the side bar for the products, they do appear on their own pages, but just not on the home page.

The second problem is:
I replaced some of the images with the new system about a week ago. The products have been replaced with the new images, and display no problem on their own pages, but again, the home page is still showing the old images.

Please let me know if these can be solved, thanks a lot for your effort for making this site better.

I am using the old uploader, since the new one is just too time consuming for me. I have a lot of designs prepared for the different sizes and products an when I upload them all at once, the process is really quick. But in 4 out of 5 cases, the new design will not to be visible after uploading for a long while. It can be seen in "my society" but if you click on it, it is not there, just the default page appears. Even in my own account I can not see it anymore, although it is there. Could this be fixed? In my experience those "late showing up" designs get very little promotes, comparing to those which are visible right away. I'd rather use the old uploader until the new one gets more comfortable and faster.

@David Zydd: The fact that there has been no response from anyone at S6 for a week makes me wonder if this is a much bigger problem. I keep expecting to find out S6 has vanished completely.

The old uploader works as far as uploading, but so many of the promotes I had are still missing. My prices change randomly. My edits don't stick. New posts don't show at the top in My Society.

I stopped uploading new work, stopped doing (and removed) any social media promotions, have pretty much given up on S6 though I still come to promote work.

The other day, I got an email survey asking if I would recommend S6. I said I would not. Less than 5 minutes later, I got an email asking what the problem was. If it wasn't so sad it would almost be funny.

Today I wanted to promote a new design from a friend (he told me that it had already a few likes) After clicking on his link, it showed me zero promotes. I promoted and it showed changed to 1 like. Then I switched to my other account and opened the same link from there. It showed zero promotes again. I commented and promoted. When I switched back to my previous account, this image again showed zero promotes and the comment has dissapeared. My friend told me, in his own account the image had 20 promotes at the very same minute. For me, when I look at it now, a couple of hours later, it still shows zero in both of my accouts. Not a big thing, but for sure still not working properly. And when I try to upload a new design today, it took about 3 hours to show up. Really, it appears that S6 is fixing one problem just to create 3 new ones.

Hi All - We are definitely still moving forward on the issues you are reporting. Progress is being made each day and I'll provide more specific updates this week as problems are resolved.

As some of you have guessed, this change was larger than just a new upload experience for artists – it was also a platform migration that will allow us to do some really exciting things in the future by removing the limitations of our original startup platform. As our library of content and artists base scales up, we need a platform that can handle it and our future growth. We've been working to keep the old system and the new system in sync which is the cause of many of the problems mentioned - especially around promote counts, comments, changes getting reverted etc. We are working on a couple small enhancements to Artist Studio based on the feedback we have received to make bulk editing a little easier. Once we are able to migrate fully to our new upload and platform, many of the issues you are seeing will go away. We'll keep you in the loop regarding our progress. Thanks!

Why didn't you guys update one thing at a time every few months, that way you make sure everything is working well in between every new update to the site. It seems like you guys took on a giant project, which basically screws us over. There are artists on here losing their mind with the amount of problems they have with their shops and the suggestions and feedback we give isn't even taken into consideration, nor is it acknowledged as far as I could tell. We can't promote our store cause we're having issues updating everything. We can't offer the free shipping offers you guys have.. which I can't even understand why they're being offered when everyone is having problems .. it's like we're being ignored most of the time. It's been like a month and "We're working on it" isn't good enough at this point. Hire more people and get this fixed by the end of October.

Just when I thought the redirect problem was gone, it's now reared its ugly ahead again. @Matt Maggard are you aware that this is now affecting the functionality of the old uploader?
Patrick Durston commented on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 2:33am
How is it possible that people can see my work and promote it, but I can't? Come on, this isn't fair anymore. Please don't continue to fob us off with statements like, "things are improving", "we're rolling out updates". Nothing's working; we can see that, we're not stupid. Things aren't changing, the site is getting harder to use, from a functional point of view its dead, and I doubt it's only us on this post that are getting this. It's widespread. I don't think you quite fully understand the problem that's on your hands. Don't keep pretending.

MG-STUDIO is right: you're clearly understaffed to work on this, with a full staff this would have been resolved ages ago, or are you not letting on as to how big this really is?

It's nearly the end of October, by now we're expecting more transparency on the issues, not some baloney. We don't want that.
Born2BeWild commented on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 3:37am
@Patrick Durston: it is weird, but the images are visible in the "my society" section of other users and can be promoted from there. But if they click on the image, it just leads to the default page of S6. And even in your own account the image is not visible, some times for a couple of hours. Quite frustrating.
Patrick Durston commented on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 4:18am
@Born2BeWild That's exactly what I've got, it happened to me the other day and it's happening again, this time longer than before. So frustrating, S6 clearly don't know what to do but they're reassuring us anyway. Honesty and transparency is better than placation.

I have uploaded a new design today and now 6 hours later it is still invisible.
augenWerk commented on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 7:25am
I have the same problems as the members mentioned above my comment.
For the last four weeks I nearly had all problems, which are descriped in this post. I didn't wrote here (I did via feedback for three times and got no answer), because I thought, S6 is working on it very busy and it will become better and better.
I arranged myself by using the old classic uploader, but for a couple of days, doing comments and promotion is very difficult. In both ways: hearts and comments I gave to other artists are not listed and I'm loosing hearts and comments, the same thing happens with following.
And now this new problem with uploaded work, that doesn't appears. It started about three days ago, that it took a long time to get listed in the shop and it even took more time day by day. Now it's 8 hours that my work I did upload in the morning isn`t visible.
So things aren't getting better, they are getting worse - in my case.
And this at the best time of the year for selling!

Greetings from Susann

@Rory Wood: I have just uploaded a photo with background on all products but I wanted to make all shirts with transparent background and I find it counter intuitive to upload the same png 6 times for each of the products (t-shirt, v-neck, long sleeve, hoody, tank top and biker tank). Couldn't all of these be joined together? On the old designer we had only one photo for all these products to upload. Or at least make it that we can somehow upload one png and it automatically detects it on all shirts.

@ s6-team:
I'd like to express a wish for future changes.
It would be great if one can choose the art/products at the startpage of the own shop by itself. I don't want to see tulips and other unseasonal work on the frontpage. There should be displayed work that fits my intentions.
Also, there is the possibilty of showing nine examples of my work, but often there are only 3 or 4 different artworks on several products displayed.
The categories are very poor, especially for photographers.

Thanks for "listening",
Susann

@Rory Wood My experience reflects all of the comments immediately above. I am seeing no progress but rather a degradation in the time it takes for an uploaded image to be available for my editting and to respond to promotions and comments by other artists. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel?
AwakeningLight commented on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 9:14am
@augenWerk I agree completely about the start page. Not only which images are displayed but also which products. Hopefully after S6 gets through the growing pains they will put this at the top of the list of new requirements.

Hi All - For those asking about delays from new posts being shown, we are seeing that our processing queues are backed up and we are adding more capacity. We expect to get back to near realtime this afternoon.
LebensART commented on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 11:55am
Don't know if that is an option and probably not everybody would agree - but won't it help to just switch of the whole page for a couple of hours/days? To get things fixed without having to deal with processing queuse and all that traffic? Or setting up a certain upload limit for artists (for a certain amount of time or even permanent)
Matt Maggard commented on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 11:59am
@MG-Studio We are absolutely collecting feedback and suggestions.

You've supplied a good set of feedback, some of which I can address. Here are some of the points you've raised and my responses.

Why do "popular" sorts not reflect promote counts?
--Our popular sort uses an algorithm that includes promote counts, sales data and a few additional factors. Items that are highly promoted and items that are top sellers are not always the same so we incorporate both elements.

Why are Carry-All-Pouches in the Apparel section of the uploader?
--We matched our site navigation to put products in the same departments in the upload for consistency. Next year we will likely add an 'Accessories' department to hold products like our Carry-All Pouches. At that time the uploader will reflect that.

A "back to post" or "see my artwork" button so that we can go see how that specific artwork we have uploaded/edited looks live.
--From the management page (society6.com/studio/art/manage) simply hover on any upload and you'll see a link for 'view enabled products' - this shows the active products and clicking those previews will take you to the product detail page for each.

Add a "center" button so that if we have to resize our art on a product.
--Definitely on our roadmap, along with pattern and background color functionality. Didn't make the cut for initial release and we are focussed on performance right now. Expect to see these features in 2017.

Posts show up in "My Society" - "My Posts" and when I click on it, it takes me to the S6 homepage. So I can't view it or delete it cause I can't even get to its page.
--It sounds like this post does not have an art print enabled. That is causing the redirect and it is something we are working on. As for how to delete, that should be handled from the manage page referenced above. Simply click the arrow next to the gear icon for any post and click 'delete' - or click 'edit products' to disable individual product types without deleting the whole post.

I hope this help clarify some of your questions. We appreciate the feedback and understand the frustration this has caused. Changes may not always be visible but we are pushing out fixes on a daily basis to improve the performance of Artist Studio.

Once again my edits are not sticking. Also prices on prints, framed prints, & canvas prints seem to randomly revert to default prices. I've only been using the new upload/editing system. I'm seriously frustrated.
MG-Studio commented on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 12:56am
@Matt Maggard I know about clicking on the previews in the management page to get to the product to see it in our stores. But what I meant was when we're uploading or editing our art, it's easier to have a "see my artwork" or something similar, on the page where we're editing/uploading as it's easier and faster. Having to go to the manement page, find our artwork, click on the "view enabled products" and then clicking on a product to see what they look like in our store takes so many extra steps.

As for the artwork I can't seem to get to cause it keeps taking me to the S6 homepage, the artwork in question isn't even in the management section. It literally only exists in "My Posts" so there is no way I can get to it at all.
Tina Carroll commented on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 3:07am
New issue. While logged into my account some of my items are not reflecting my artist's discount. I had tried editing my prices on prints, framed prints, and canvas prints right before seeing this glitch.
Matt Maggard commented on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 11:02am
@MG-Studio

Let me look into the 'phantom post' in your account. Thanks for the clarification.

As for your request, can you tell me a little more about it? We designed the system so you can get to the all the product detail pages for a given post from the manage page (so all the links are all available in one spot) and we show product previews with zoom for all the products variations from the edit panels (so you can proof your layout on all iPhone and Galaxy cases for example).

Since a product detail page does not exist for a product until you publish it, a link in the edit panel would only function if you are editing an already published product. Can you tell me a little more about your workflow so I can understand how these 2 features don't handle your process? Thanks!
Matt Maggard commented on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 11:05am
@Tina Carroll The royalty resetting is something we are working on but it does not always happen so we are having some difficulty diagnosing the cause. Do you have a specific post that we can use to investigate? Are any other edits not sticking besides royalties?

I'll investigate the artists discount issue you mentioned. Thanks!

Tina Carroll commented on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 11:38am
My canvas prints are not giving me my markup discount. (I've added multiple ones as well as other prints to my cart to verify.) As for edits not sticking, mostly it concerns the royalities reverting back to defaults. However, I'm also finding that some of my previous non-print opt outs (like wall clocks & tech items for example) have reverted to opt in.
Wendy Paula Patterson commented on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 2:08pm
Still struggling with the new system, the tags are time consuming to add and limited in number.
To add throw pillows etc I have to go back to the old uploader and then they do not appear in my shop?
Some old images on the pillows are not centered until you click on the image to enlarge.
This could be very off putting for customers not realising this and thinking the design is off center with a white stripe down one side.
I have hesitated adding any more artwork recently as it is all so confusing.

PS1:
Regarding the curator duplication code links on tumblr (option), my question was answered by a simple "our system doesn't allow duplicated curator codes on the links" This is a definite answer on my question that was " Which one of the codes count on a link that has duplicated curator codes on your system? That means to be none of the codes is accepted, am i right or wrong?

Hi Matt Maggard, I think I am having royalties issues, too. A mini print of one of my older collage (uploaded 3 years ago) was sold 19 Oct. showing the default royalty of the new uploader of $1.00 (I have mine set for $7.50). Again, this collage was uploaded with the old uploader ages ago and I haven't done any updates for it with the new uploader. Here is the link to that particular collage:
https://society6.com/product/five-hun...170p4a1v45
This is the first time this has happened but I am afraid it could happen again. Do we have to update our royalties for ALL our works with the new uploader?
AwakeningLight commented on Saturday, October 22, 2016 10:59am
@Matt Maggard from your earlier post:

"Posts show up in "My Society" - "My Posts" and when I click on it, it takes me to the S6 homepage. So I can't view it or delete it cause I can't even get to its page.
--It sounds like this post does not have an art print enabled. That is causing the redirect and it is something we are working on. As for how to delete, that should be handled from the manage page referenced above. Simply click the arrow next to the gear icon for any post and click 'delete' - or click 'edit products' to disable individual product types without deleting the whole post."

I have continued to struggle with this same problem and I don't think your development team has a handle on this. First, my recent experience has been in times of high load, it can take hours before an image that shows in My Society/My posts has a valid link to my page not the S6 page. It appears to be capacity related. Second, until you find a solution to the problem with deletes in the Artist Studio, I refuse to use it because each time I did it left an orphaned, unlinked, undeletable image in My Society / My Posts. Check for yourself and you will see 2 of them there.

Olechka commented on Saturday, October 22, 2016 3:23pm
@Judith Clay - I looked back at my prints from several years ago and I see the same issue with lots of them! They are showing up as $13 ($1 royalty) for the smallest print but I have the price set to $19 ($6.27 royalty) And when I go to edit the price with the old uploader, the mark-ups show up correctly in the edit page. I tried to "publish" it again from the old uploader with the correct prices and it still shows up as $13. When I add the print to cart, it keeps the $13 price and takes the $1 off for my artist discount. So if someone else would purchase that print I'd only get paid $1 for it :/

Here is an example of one that is doing this: https://society6.com/product/music-6y...786p4a1v45

Hi S6 team,

it's now about 24 hours, that I did my last upload. The work only is visible in "my posts". A click on it leads to the S6 page. The promotion is next to nothing.
My last upload needed approx. 10 hours, the uploads before less than this.
So it turns from bad to worse.
Followers are falling. I would like to manage my holiday deals and I worked very hard for this the last months.
I really don't know what to do. All effort I put in S6 is in vain?
While I want to create new works I'm now uploading my "old" work on other platforms. That's not how I'd visualized things!
In the meantime I receive newsletter like this:
"This'll warm you up: Comforters have launched in our Home category! Just in time for the cold winter months ahead. We'll be "blanketing" our community with home decor and holiday promos soon, so make sure you get 'em going in your store."

@Matt Maggard: As of today, 10/24/2016 at 6:18pm ET, the problems I flagged in my messages from 10/13 (which I have repasted below) have NOT been fixed. My shop still shows several duplicate posts, one with the correct number of likes/promotes, the other with zero. Clicking on the posts with zero promotes takes me to the S6 home page, so I cannot delete these duplicates.

One of my posts "ColorBlox - Hammered" is now only showing a thumbnail with zero promotes in my shop, clicking on it takes the customer to the S6 home page, so buyers cannot access this work of mine at all.

We are coming into the holiday selling season. When does S6 expect to have their platform stabilized? I think S6 artists are owed an honest answer.

MellowCat commented on Thursday, October 13, 2016 1:33pm
I also just noticed that the thumbnail images for several of my older posts in my
shop have magically duplicated themselves since I last looked at them a couple of days ago.

I was using the classic uploader in hopes of avoiding all the problems listed above, and everything seemed to be working fine. But my latest upload has the same problem as quite a few people have listed above. I can see the thumbnail when I go into My Posts on My Society, but clicking on it leads to the main S6 Art Prints page. It's not visible when I go to manage my posts, even more than 12 hours later. No visibility, barest of promotions. Is it best to upload again, or will the art show up eventually?

Agree that this is a bit worrisome given the holiday season approaching...

When I click on it, it takes me to the S6 art print homepage. I also uploaded some phone cases to some of my old posts with the classic uploader, but again, it's not showing either. The wee-hours upload seems to have worked fairly well. Some of the prices on Art Prints show as expected, while others have been reverted to the unadjusted base and, as others report, the expected prices show when one clicks through to the individual product page. A few thumbnails show "short sheeting" again. The promos on the new item are registering as they should. Guess we are close to desired functionality, at least for my shop. :)

About 41 days have gone by since this blog entry was posted. That's over a month now. I think at this point you guys should hire more programmers/developers at least temporarily, so you got fresh eyes and clear heads to help you out.

Also, why are our artworks arranged randomly in the manage center? Makes it that much harder to find a specific piece. I generally have a good idea where a specific piece is cause I roughly know how old it is, but now I have to go through every single page cause it isn't in order of uploaded. Would be nice if we can choose by what order our art gets displayed in the manage center; alphabetical, chronological order etc.

It would also be great a button to center the design.
Overall I really like and agililza the task of adapting the designs.
A little slow, but sure it gradually will improve.
Thank you very much!

I just noticed that a new product, comforters, has been auto-enabled for my designs that already have a duvet cover file uploaded.

Thank you!! I think this will be a great addition to the product offerings.

Five days now, work is still invisible.
Added some products yesterday on older holiday seasons work, but they also do not appear.
Shipping to Europe takes about 2-3 weeks. When shall people purchase their deco for holidays, if not NOW?
As a newbie, I was very happy that things got started in September and I could make some sales - but now there's a big break.

The monday's artwork is still not visible, but I've uploaded a new one today, and it appeared within minutes. It's also on my homepage:

Did you use the old or the new uploader today?
Frankie Cat commented on Friday, October 28, 2016 8:59am
I tried for 30 minutes to get the new uploader to work. No go and very frustrating. My image that I uploaded with the classic uploader on Monday is still AWOL. I'm not a happy camper.

Love the new features. Makes life so much easier! Thanks Society6 :)
LisetteArt commented on Friday, October 28, 2016 2:56pm
I haven't added any new products since the updates. The new system is unusable. I've tried Chrome, Firefox and IE. It takes forever to load thumbnail images (sometimes they never appear - just the spinning loading wheel) when I add a product. Then, when I actually go to edit a product, my images either don't show or just partially show which makes it impossible to create a product. The old system required multiple templates but it was stable and reliable. While I appreciate the idea behind these updates, it's just not working. I also find it strange to not have a center or reset feature while trying to work with your images. Another thing is that if you wanted to make it quicker for the artist regarding templates, I don't see why so many products are disabled b/c they are not in a certain ratio. This defeats the purpose of saving time. It seems I will need to make multiple versions anyway.
Tmac Pictures commented on Friday, October 28, 2016 4:50pm
it would be great if you could add a "rotate" feature to the image / product uploads!
Tina Carroll commented on Friday, October 28, 2016 7:54pm
I encountered new issues tonight. I used the new uploader to once again opt out of some tech & home items for 2 images. I was looking for the edit products option under the settings on the right side but only the option to "edit info" showed. So I chose that option & was then bumped out to S6's home page. This happened three times. When I finally made it to the "edit products" section I found that all of my prices for prints, framed art, & canvas prints had returned to the default.

I edited prices for 2 images: "Delicato" & "Pod People". Also opted out of all tech items as well as wall clicks, rugs, & stationary cards.

Perhaps this info might help you find what caused those glitches.
Geckojoy commented on Friday, October 28, 2016 11:53pm
There seems to be an issues using the "add blog post" feature in Safari. The "add files" button doesn't show up so you can't add images. Works fine in Chrome though.

The only other problem I've seen is when adding some items to a collection (iPhone and iPad cases) the images show only half the case covered with artwork while the rest is the bare metal case. But when you click through (or view in the studio) it shows the artwork filling out the entire case. Hope it's just a glitch?
Olechka commented on Saturday, October 29, 2016 2:30pm
Changes still not sticking for most updated artworks.
The only difference I notice is that the changes might stick around for longer (several days) before reverting back to the old version. This is very frustrating and I am not going to waste anymore time trying to update older works; will wait until things are fixed. Thanks for working on this!
Christopher Dina commented on Saturday, October 29, 2016 8:32pm
I agree with @Olechka, the system, specifically the new uploader is a BIG time waster at the moment. Images for wide pillows and carry-pouches have reverted back so many times I've lost count - even after fixed. I don't know how many times I've left feedback and contacted support. They say turn off then turn on products...that works for a few days and then its back to the outdated image. Am I supposed to turn on/off every week? Is this a joke? Just not dependable.
washbelly commented on Sunday, October 30, 2016 4:45am
I figured this was going to be a disaster so I skipped away for a month. Now as I look back at my work (uploaded before all these shenanigans) I see most of my wall tapestries are now off centre and useless. I always thought the old system wasn't that great (lots of dubious anomalies) but seriously, right now, I'm off somewhere else. There are many many print-on-demand solutions out there and this is not a serious option anymore. Nice try though. Best of luck everyone.
Andrea Joy / Shots From the Hi… commented on Sunday, October 30, 2016 5:30am
After having the same problems others have reported and feeling frustrated and angry at the time I was wasting, I also stepped away for awhile. Coming back today and checking my products, I find that nothing has been fixed and things have gotten even worse. Like @washbelly, I see my products off centre, making them sloppy and useless. Products I disabled weeks ago because of that problem continue to be visible in their sorry states, and even if I wanted to spend hours adjusting them again (for no reason, since they don't stick), my "edit products" option has disappeared.

It's bad enough that you decided to roll out such a broken mess so close to the holidays but the fact that there has been no response from S6 here since October 19 is unforgivable and just adds insult to injury. It also speaks volumes.

Like @washbelly said, there are many other print on demand solutions out there and S6 is not a serious option anymore. Such a shame.
Patrick Durston commented on Sunday, October 30, 2016 2:37pm
You know you've got a serious problem when your artists feel like going somewhere else to EARN their money.

Come on S6, get it sorted. Artist's struggle enough as it is, they don't need a platform that should be providing them a living to let them down.

"HUGE Holiday Artist Promo on Now" I don't think I want to advertise my work here on S6. One look and a person can see things are all skewed and distorted. My sales are down and I was hoping things would be running smoother once we hit November.
Mellowcat commented on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 8:12am
I think the customers are giving up on S6 as well. I have had two cancellations of print sales. Both sales were made in late September, both have cancelled.

I am not doing any more promotions of my work on S6, or uploading more work until this mess is fixed.

Just tried the new 'studio', and I think it needs more clicks than the classic uploader... Might work better for the pattern designer? But I think it makes much more sense to group stuff like 'cases' under one file, so there's no need to upload for each. available. product. option. And I haven't checked but do I have to edit the prices and click. through. every. dollar. every. time?

AwakeningLight commented on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 6:08am
I am glad to see people are still uploading in spite of the justified frustration. We all have a lot invested and I hope the S6 team can sort this out. Like many others, I would like to see a progress update. For example, I tried to change prices on a number of images/products using the new uploader and they reverted back to the old. So if there is never an update of what works and what doesn't, some guidance re: don't waste you time on this but we expect to roll out a fix for this in x days/weeks, then the wasted time and frustration will continue. If it is going to take another month, then I would rather know that, even if I don't like it. It is time for the S6 team to think outside the box. If egos are preventing creative new solutions, then its time to lose them. The ideas that created S6 are brilliant but there are many among us who don't know how to implement what we conceive. Ask for help. And communicate.
augenWerk commented on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 12:43pm
@ S6-Team:

I did two posts today for artist promotion, although I'm sooooo frustrated about all the problems that dont't get changed and every day there are more! But I
put so much of effort into my work here on s6 during the last months, so that I decided not to give up, but now ...

The first post (without selling) needed many times of effort, until it worked. Not sure if it will appear, I did a second one in my shop (available for sale). I clicked the publish-button about ten times and waited for half an hour, until it worked. Now I see, that my description with the promo-link isn't shown. ... So I just tried to do a comment with the link, that also doesn't work!!!
Giving in a title of the work needed many attempts. I use the old uploader.

Some works are very unsharp and dark in previews (which are generally not the best, even when zoomed)), so you can hardly recognize something.
Very old works are out of center and filled with white color, or the promos are set to zero and so on.
Works would not be selected for the shop, because I did several uploads on which I couldn`t access for many days until the first one was visible in my shop, so the promo-hearts were spread all over.

But the worst thing in my opinion is, that there is no response by s6 at all!

I posted via feedback - nothing. Than I began posting here, because there were some answers of you in the earlier days of this mess, but - nothing.

Does it make any sense of spending my time on s6 anymore or shall I enjoy my leisure by doing a walk?
I want an answer, PLEASE!!!

I'm sure your working hard and I do appreciate, but LET US KNOW!

Susann

The new uploader looks all nice, but one thing I'd love to see is the ability to choose which print sizes to make available, just like you can choose which products to offer. Even if I had a file large enough for all print sizes and products, sometimes I only want to offer small prints of a certain image, for example.

And a related point - the old uploader would automatically give you only the prints sizes available based on the file uploaded, but now even smallest files seemingly make it possible to sell the largest prints. Not sure if those sizes actually become available once the art is published, but it's definitely misleading.

@Rory Wood , @Matt Maggard , @S6-Team

This whole thing has become a nightmare, I appreciate seeing how often both Matt and Rory respond, that is great. However, using the website isn't smooth, putting out a quality product expediently is no longer what I think of when using Society6.

Here are the current issues I have been facing, using multiple computers and operating systems, all with the same results:

Your website's compatibility with Chrome browser is odd, a bunch of the buttons and links simply will not click. If you try to select someone's artwork from their store, and click on it, nothing will occur. You have to right click and select open in new window or open in new tab to get the artwork to open from the storefront. Why would people go through that trouble? This makes people who are not frequent Society6er's less inclined to go through this process to purchase a product.
**Through Safari all the buttons and links seem to be working fine.

Using the new uploader is impossible, none of the preview images will appear in step 3 so you don't even know if your piece is on the product or not. All appear white, so you would assume that it isn't uploading from the original images, so logically one would go to each individual product and upload the images meant for the product. Nothing happens! still no preview! You cannot move the image, you cannot do anything, it's all blank and it's all white! As a test I decided I would hit publish and see what did upload, the answer was nothing, nothing uploaded. The whole thing seems to have never occurred.
So I was forced to upload using the "classic system," Which I personally always loved but I had presets and could conveniently figure out placement on the products myself using photoshop so I may be biased.
At first it seemed to work, everything went through and it uploaded.
**However, none of the preview images showed on the products on the storefront! So no one would know what they were buying or what it would look like. This was infuriating since my options were upload it through the new uploader and have nothing posted or use the classic uploader and have it sort of work with some serious issues of presenting the work on the products in the storefront.
*****This problem persisted on all browsers on multiple operating systems.******

I love society6 and have enjoyed using it for 5 years! With nothing but good things to say, but after using this uploader, I'm disheartened. I'm upset. It has been almost 2 months of this, I cannot imagine the frustration of the consumer, I'm sure if they had trouble viewing the product for 2 months, they would simply look elsewhere.

I was so frustrated when this all first occurred I stepped away for these months hoping it would be resolved, but today I came back with so many issues I am actually upset.

Even if the problems are not resolved I still think it is important to continue the dialogue between your storefront owners and your society6 Team, please continue to keep us updated.

AwakeningLight commented on Friday, November 4, 2016 7:18am
@LebensART the last time I used the old uploader it took 72 hours for my image to appear. You could wait and see or try the new uploader with the probability the you will end up with duplicate images on S6.

PLdesign commented on Friday, November 4, 2016 9:30am
Previews are still wonky but much better than yesterday and day before, when they didn't even load. There are still a lot of bugs and it would be great if you would inform us of updates and fixes that are being implemented.

But recent addition of "apply this image to similar products" is great and saves a lot of unnecessary uploads.

Some new issues:

Prices are falling by bigger sizes of artwork (see attachment).
Edit - button leads to blank boxes (see attachment).
My last works aren't selected for the store although there is enough promotion.

I really would be glad - but I had told you so many times - if there would be an answer. I did about 8 or more posts to all those problems via feedback or blog since about 8 weeks, but it seems, that I'm not heard. Every single one kept without reply.

Your artists are doing the beta tests for you and they support each other by giving response to questions that you are not able to answer.

Your last reaction in the blog is more than two weeks ago while things getting worse. I'm not able to relate to this manner anymore.

???

Susann: I heard from many artists that they don't get notifications anymore for their work being selected for the store. Anyway if an image has 13 or 130 promotes. So might be that they do not send those emails anymore or maybe every image now goes directly into the store. Sieht so aus als wenn wir in der Hinsicht alle in einem Boot sitzen.

In the app are we forever going to have our thumbnail images cropped to a square? I don't mind this so much but when you click on the cropped square to open the piece from my artwork feed it still doesn't open the full image, you get the imaged cropped down to a square. This often cuts off more than half of the image. I really think that when you click an image you should get to see the whole thing. I spent time composing artwork and randomly cropping it into a square frequently cuts off important parts like heads and faces and text. Please stop the crop!!!!
