Introducing the Society6 Art Quarterly No.1.1!

It's my privilege to announce that after many sleepless nights and several thrilling months - we're proud to be introducing the Society6 Art Quarterly No.1.1

Perfect bound with a black foil stamped cover, our First Edition Art Quarterly weighs in at 9x12 inches. It features original artwork from 49 diverse Society6 artists off-set printed in rich color across 130 pages.

Our dedication to our artists goes beyond facilitating the sale of their work on various products. Whether through collaboration, exhibits, social media, features, emails, collections or videos, we strive to propel your work in front of as many eyes as possible. But it's always uniquely energizing when we discover new methods like this.

The Society6 Art Quarterly will drop 4X a year and include new work from active Society6 artists. Emerging artists will sit alongside community veterans in a celebration of the diversity in media, style and subject represented within the S6 family. With thousands of artists uploading daily, we may not be able to fit everyone in, but we're thrilled to establish one more way to spotlight our talented members.

And without further ado, let's introduce the artists of Society6 Art Quarterly No.1.1 in order of appearance:

This is amazing!!! And yes, what several people already asked: how can we get our work featured?
Rory Wood commented on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 7:24pm
To those asking about getting featured, curation for this project is a monumental undertaking that has a lot of layers, but I'll try to illuminate!

First and for most we're looking at whom is active in the window since the last quarterly. We really want to keep the book fresh, and the best way we know how to do that is to pull inspiration from what's happing right now! That doesn't mean we wouldn't select older pieces of a particular artist if the world needs to see it, just means we're evaluating based on those investing into the community at this moment in time.

So simply by nature of uploading new work to Society6, you're in the running.

Another biggie is variety. Society6 is a mashup of some of the most talented painters, illustrators, graphic designers, photographers, [insert your medium here] in the world and we're striving to take a balanced approach to make sure we celebrate all styles and subjects equitably.

Which leads to the next point, technical and creative chops. Reviewing the work of thousands of artists, whittling down to hundreds and then down to 49 has been one of the most painstakingly enjoyable experiences our team has collaborated on and deliberation always came down to craft.

We do our best to gauge investment in time, energy, focus and heart to find those creators that have given everything to their work, put it all out on the line and have seemingly established themselves as "masters" in their own distinct way.

As Nathan mentioned, in this particular format it's going to be tough to include everyone, but we look forward to the into-the-wee-hours-debates we have as a team to ensure we're being fair in objectively curating each book.

So to summarize... Stay active, keep posting and focus on honing your own distinct brand of creativity to a razor sharp edge!
