Guillaume Cornet aka Mr Guil just started adding his artwork to the S6 community, however, he's clearly been at his craft for a while. Because he matches large format work with extreme precision and detail, I had a few quick questions for him about the process.
Ben: Love the favela pieces. I have to ask - how long are you spending on those?
Guillaume: I spend between 150-200 hours drawing the originals. Then I screen-print a limited edition of 10 (black outline only) or 30 (multi layered).
And you hand color, right?
Yes. The last step is colouring each print by hand, which takes another 10 to 100 hours depending on the number of layers on the screen-prints.
Are you showing anywhere?
I am currently exhibiting at the Affordable Art Fair from Sept 25 - 29, 2014 at the DECORAZON Gallery in New York City and Hooloon Art Gallery in Philadelphia.
