I can't tell you how many texts I've gotten from my best friend asking me if some weird orange caftan she's wearing in a thrift-store dressing room is "awful"or "secretly amazing". But what are friends for if not the sacred bond of style advice? LA-based models and BFFs, Lucy Lawrence and Paisley Grey, are constantly inspiring and entertaining each other with their personal style. Writer Ashley Tibbits gives us a look at their friendship and their devotion to expanding each other's love for fashion.
When Lucy Lawrence and Paisley Grey met on the set of a music video, it was a style-crush at first sight. To say they got close quickly would be an understatement. "Within the first hour, we both were in bras and having to hug," Lucy shares of the rather intimate encounter, "It it wasn't awkward. I knew we were going to be friends, so it was fine!".
And the rest is pretty much friendship history. While the two have a few major things in common (being bona fide babes, models, and SoCal natives), they also find inspiration in their differing fashion tastes.
Of Paisley's comparatively more feminine, lady-like vibe, Lucy says, "Paisley always looks super put-together. It's quirky, but she makes everything classic at the same time. Sophisticated and cool." While self-proclaimed tomboy Lucy usually sticks to her uniform of black denim, she can always count on Paisley for advice on getting a bit more girly.
Asking one another for fashion advice is pretty common for these girlfriends, who plan to be spending even more quality time together now that they've picked up season passes to Disneyland. What to wear to the magical place where one can unapologetically act like an 8-year-old, binge on churros, and take selfies with Mickey and Minnie? Well that's what friends are for, no?
