The Natural Illustrator

Emelia has been practicing art all her life and has felt a strong connection with illustration since she was very young. She has always known that she wanted to spend her life doing something art related, and her career as an artist has just begun to bloom. In 2012 she graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelors in Fine Arts, and in June of 2013 she received her certificate in Natural Science Illustration from the University of Washington. Emelia is interested in pursuing a career in Scientific Illustration. She feels drawn to this profession because of the beautiful detailed illustrations, as well as the important role it plays in education and science. As an artist her techniques have always been very detail oriented, with her subjects focusing mostly on animals and nature. While in University she developed her skills, specifically in detail orientated pen and ink drawings and paintings. As a natural science Illustrator she feels she would be able to succeed as an artist while being able to cover many forms of nature including wildlife illustrations, botanical, archaeological and specialized projects. As an artist Emelia’s fine arts coincide nicely with the style of Scientific Illustration. She feels she can create Illustrations and works of art that are creative and informational.
