My name is Stuart Wright, and I am an abstract & landscape artist in the West Midlands. I`ve been painting pictures for over 20 years & I am mostly self taught.i like the flow of the work, creating something from nothing, glimpsing a direction to go in, then trying to capture a feeling of warmth or spontaneity, or charm to bring the paintings to life. I studied illustration at university, also doing courses in landscape, figure work & abstracts My paintings are a process of exploration. There are no messages or hidden agendas, other than to reveal the discoveries made during my investigations. Perhaps I do take cues from familiar surroundings and perhaps old rustic buildings, aged surfaces golds, reds, burnt umbers, autumn leaves,do find their way into my work. Working with texture and colour is intoxicating. There is, of course, the seed of an idea or a bit of a plan when I begin, but I am quickly directed by the work, answering the needs, sorting the puzzles and discovering solutions. I work with layers of thick and thin color, washed or scumbled over a textured surface. Traces are left by assorted mark makers, lines are straight, curved or gestural, surfaces are wiped, dripped and spattered, all adding to an eventual sense of accumulation and the essence of time. I love architecture, volleyball and mountain biking. I used to think of becoming an Architect, but I never liked the technical aspect of it The paint used in my work is of the best quality, all the original designs are my own. my latest work can be seen on https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/wrightsonarts wall canvas art wrightsonarts for home a joined Society6 on March 23, 2013
