Isela Xospa (XospaTronik) is an illustrator and artist living and working in New York. Originally from Mexico City where she studied Graphic Communication Design. XospaTronik's illustrations are often inspired by Mexican culture and by her own life, mixed up with pop culture. XospaTronik is concerned in her work with her people and with their experiences and identity as travelers and migrants. She herself has first had knowledge of borders and the immigrant experience, having lived for one year in the UK doing volunteer work with the handicapped youth and juvenile delinquents in a southern province of England before coming to live in the USA. She specialized in illustration and character design, the distinctive square shape characters and illustrations in her work are intended to communicate a colorful visual punch in a simple attempt to make other people smile and be happy too.
